- Salus spa was launched in December after a £12 million investment. Indoor facilities, including a juniper sauna, a steam room, and a pool, are complimentary for all guests. Travelzoo members can also access the hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and feature shower in the spa garden for two hours each day.

- The hotel has a golf course winding around the River Ure (fees apply).
- The Howardian Hills National Landscape is a 30-minute drive away. It contains the Castle Howard Estate, a filming location for "Brideshead Revisited" and "Bridgerton".

The hotel has the potential to be great but was let down by a few things, such as getting the breakfast order wrong, giving out the wrong wrist band in the spa meaning that we did not get to use the hydrotherapy outdoor pool one day, when we questioned this we did not get an apology but they did agree we could use the facility the following day for an hour but only at a 9am time slot). We upgraded our room as it was my birthday, the hotel did not acknowledge my birthday in any way. The room could have been cleaner in places. The bar was empty by 10pm on both of the nights we stayed. The evening meal in Elements was very good and the service was first class (it was very quiet). The majority of the staff really tried hard to provide a great service.
Other Comments
The spa area is still being completed and the hotel has a large amount of construction work taking place.

The staff are great. The interior is amazing with great attention to detail and quite quirky - in a tasteful way! The food is excellent. We were disappointed that the pub that used to be in the village had closed. The weather wasn’t great when we were there but the grounds are beautiful and the spa was a lovely way to start the day.

Our room was pleasant and the bed comfortable. I was unaware that we had been “upgraded”by the hotel to a garden view room adding an extra £10 which we did not mind too much except the room had a very small window overlooking what looked like part of the golf course. The food was good but the portions small and maybe overpriced to appeal to many. The restaurant was fairly empty when we ate.
Other Comments
The waitressing staff were friendly and helpful. We were given a map of a suggested river walk around the perimeter of the golf course which we enjoyed.

enjoyed the stay except destroyed our longed for lie in because the fire alarm went off at 6,37am. The staff did not seem at all apologetic or to recognise how disappointing this was
