"Excellent stay in this beautiful building. The grounds surrounding the Hall, equally beautiful. So much thought gone into restoring this gorgeous Place. Food excellent and service. Thank you Saltmarshe Hall for a wonderful stay."
The hotel's North Wing is at the front of the building and consists of six Deluxe rooms: Skelton, Kilpin, Cotness, Reedness, Yokefleet, and Sandholme. This part of the house was once the old servants’ quarters and has been renovated to a high standard.
Bordering the River Ouse, Saltmarshe Hall and its 17 acres of grounds feature riverside trails, extensive parkland, tree-lined walkways, and walled gardens.
The hotel is on the Trans Pennine Trail, which runs from Hornsea to Southport, and is an ideal base for hikers and cyclists.
Visit the nearby nature reserve at Saltmarshe Delph and the RSPB site at Blacktoft Sands to spot waterfowl and other wildlife.
York—with its "magnificent circuit of 13th-century walls", Medieval core, and "one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the world" (Lonely Planet)—is a 40-minute drive away. So too is the city of Hull, famous for its maritime history, connection to the English Civil War, and as the birthplace of William Wilberforce.

Lovely old house sympathetically refurbished. Rooms individually styled. Staff are excellent, nothing too much trouble. We had tea & scones in the library and then wandered the grounds.

The Hall is quite isolated along a very narrow Lane approaching it. Well worth it as location is amazing and tranquil.

We had an overnight stay at Saltmarshe Hall to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is set in beautiful gardens. Our room a bit warm - but we could open the windows and was nicely decorated and the bathroom was very modern and has a great walk- in shower. The staff were all very friendly. We had a 3 course meal in the stately dining room which was very nice as was breakfast in the morning. It’s a lovely wedding venue. They were setting up for a wedding the next day. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous location and very well-restored hall.
However, the room was surprisingly noisy: cars on a gravel alley outside with their engines running unnecessarily and voices presumably coming from adjoining rooms or possibly the kitchens, hard to tell, but irritating when trying to get to sleep.

We visited for my brother’s 70th birthday. The experience was lovely. Saltmarshe Hall isa lovely venue with beautiful grounds. The staff were very kind and friendly. Rooms were comfortable with beautiful bathrooms and L’Occitane toiletries. The decorative bedspread had a stain but otherwise everything was clean. Food was good for our main meal and breakfast but the risotto was a very dry. The walk around the grounds and down by the river was super.

A hidden gem of a place. A lovely old house hiding away within short distance to Howden Minster.
It’s surrounded by its own lovely gardens with heated outdoor pool.
We found the staff welcoming & very pleasant with lovely food & dog friendly.
We stayed one night with our small dog & wish we’d booked for two night & taken our costumes.

Had a fabulous time staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble. Great value for money especially with the bottle of presecco and 3 course meal included. The meal choice was good too. The only slight disappointment was we were a little peckish and went to enquire about getting a sandwhich thinking this would be okay as they catered for afternoon tea. But was told that they didn't have any but found some biscuits to have with our coffee. Having said that I would go again it was a beautiful place. Great value for money. A great venue for a wedding too

Saltmarshe Hall is a lovely hotel out on the Ouse marshes. We stayed in the old servants quarters rooms and they are comfortable and well appointed. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with a walled garden, bar area garden and walks along the riverside. There is a outdoor swimming pool in the walled garden which we did not have a chance to use. Please note that the package includes a late checkout BUT it is discretionary. The hotel were hosting a wedding the following day and therefore we were unable to have a late checkout which was disappointing, I would suggest they email guests to inform them of this pre arrival. The evening meal was good with excellent service from the waitress and we enjoyed the full Yorkshire breakfast.
Other Comments
Our experience was impacted by the attitude at reception. On arrival we asked about late checkout and we were told about the Wedding. The receptionist was somewhat dismissive and unempathetic when we said it might have been an idea to have told us in advance. There was none of the usual welcome explaining where the bar was, the dining room and other hotel amenities. We felt that the reception staff saw us as an afterthought and were more concerned about the Wedding. We understand that Travelzoo is a 'deal' because hotels have agreed to take a discount so that they can fill rooms and get revenue, however they should continue to treat all guests equally, and not make them feel like an inconvenience. It is the feeling you are left with afterwards that remains with you, no matter how lovely the actual accommodation/hotel.

Checked in at 1.30pm and the room was ready and a bottle of Prossecco awaited us in the fridge in the room. Courteous reception staff who greeted my wife with a 'happy birthday' and a birthday card in the room from the Saltmarshe team. A lovely meal was finished off with a good nights sleep in the very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent.
