Mortons Manor is a "building with a real story to tell", says The AA. It was built in 1590 at the base of Corfe Castle. Queen Elizabeth stayed there, and it was reputedly built in an "E" shape in her honour.
The property is full of period features, including mullioned windows, grand fireplaces, and wood panelling.
As well as two Rosettes, the hotel holds three Silver Stars from The AA. These are awarded to hotels offering superior levels of quality and service.
You can visit Corfe Castle to learn its important role in the English Civil War. The castle ruins are open year-round and offer impressive views across Purbeck.
Studland Bay and Swanage are less than 15 minutes' drive away. The Jurassic Coast is one of the UK's best places for fossil hunting.
