The Blue Ball Inn is a historic coaching inn within scenic Exmoor National Park. This diverse landscape takes in woodland, moorland, and expansive coastlines.
Dating from the thirteenth century, the property features low ceilings, blackened beams, and stone fireplaces.
Our members praise the "delicious food", "welcoming staff", and "spectacular scenery all around".
A menu of hearty pub classics, pizzas, and light bites is served in the restaurant. This offer includes £50 dining credit towards dinner.
The surrounding countryside offers a huge choice of walking routes. The South West Coast Path runs within a few hundred metres of the property.
The twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are around five minutes' drive away. They're connected by a Victorian funicular railway running up the steep gorge. It's reportedly the highest and steepest water-powered railway in the world.

Surprisingly isolated: the A39 to get there is narrow (sometimes single track), twisty and steep. The village consists of the pub, the church and 3 houses. Spectacular scenery all around, including a wonderful view over the sea from the hilltop behind the church. Ancient building with lots of steps and creaky floors. Room down a long corridor, but comfortable, with plenty of storage space. Dinner and breakfast both delicious, with plenty of choice. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to assist with any issues that arose. The room was spacious and the bed very comfy. The breakfast was excellent and the evening food was also very good. We really enjoyed the mushroom and black olive pizza. We will definitely return if we are in the area again.

The member of staff that checked us in worked within the bar check-in and also in the restaurant on the first evening and an absolute Trojan. The second evening on dining wasn't as good as the first different member of staff.
Other Comments
We found the bathroom was a bit awkward as the shower spray was on the bottom of the bath and there was no shower panel due to the sloping roof. The bins weren't emptied in the room. My husband thought the bed was hard but I believe that's a personal preference. We sat in the beer garden and all the time we were there no one came out to clear the glasses and dishes which doesn't look very inviting when people arrive.

We stayed when the weather was lovely and could take advantage of the lovely situation. Very short walk to cliffs when Exmoor ponies were there. Nice sunny terrace to sit on and warm fires inside.

The Blue Ball need to update their rooms as they are rather shabby. However, the staff worked tirelessly were efficient and friendly, it was a pleasure to spend time there. The breakfasts and evening meals were good. We would likely go there again.
