We had a wonderful time with our dog. Stayed 2 nights in a small bedroom, which was charming, and had a big en-suite bathroom, where we could put up our dog’s soft cage. Very relaxing time with lovely walks nearby. Saw dippers by the river Taw at the back of the hotel. Great atmosphere and good food (breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner) and a good choice of drinks from the bar.

The dog friendly environment was perfect for us We needed a few days away after a rough few months and this hotel and its facilities were exactly what we needed. The staff were friendly, the dog was welcome everywhere (on lead) and the food was fantastic.

The staff were, in the main, excellent. Big shout out to Tegan, she was so personable and helpful. Not so much so the bar-staff.
Not sure the cost upgrade to 'superior' was actually value for money.
The hotel location/grounds were wonderful - the autumn leaf-change was in full effect and was stunning, who needs New England when old England does it so well!
Other Comments
Very limited (and costly) restaurant menu.

Great if you have a dog/dogs as they are very welcome there with towels to dry them, doggy treats, a bowl with a treat in in your room and welcomed everywhere. Good outdoor space for them too. Tea and coffee in the room plus biscuits.
The cream tea was a nice scone and a cup of tea/coffee. Breakfast was good and contrary to other reviews was hot. The staff were all very friendly.
Had a problem with the TV in the room it buffered even with the basic BBC and ITV channels, couldn’t pick up any free view channels. Only watching it as it was pouring with rain and had been all day.
Evening meal was had there and that was good though a tad pricey. A car trip to get anywhere

Good hotel, we booked as very dog friendly and was exactly that .
Rooms are nice but a little tired need modernising but clean and comfortable.
I didn’t feel out room was worth the extra we paid for ‘superior’ but would return . Food was very good also .

Two night stay.Excellent hotel if you have a dog. Food in restaurant is very good. Good location and extensive grounds. Plenty of free parking. Excellent breakfast and good afternoon tea. Certainly good value especially with the Travelzoo offer.
Other Comments
The room was of a good standard. Very comfortable bed. The bathroom was good. The only negative comment regarding the room is that the walls are very thin therefore if the guests in the neighbouring rooms are noisy (as ours were …tv, loud speech and heavy snoring!) then quality sleep is very difficult.
