Switch off for a few hours at Appleby Manor Hotel & Garden Spa, surrounded by the picturesque Eden Valley. The 19th-century manor house is one of the best spa hotels in the Lake District, according to The Times. Visit for access to their "spectacular" (The Good Spa Guide) facilities, plus two 25-minute treatments. Then, enjoy a 2-course lunch with bubbly. Lovely staff, the treatment was amazing and the spa is small but has everything you would expect. The only criticism is the ladies changing room is tiny, if there are more than 2 people in at any one time there is no space to move. If this could be made bigger the whole experience would have been perfect.

What a lovely way to relax. Unfortunately we didn't get our sparkling prosecco, but we still enjoyed ourselves. The sauna wasn't working and maintenance came, but there was still plenty of other things to do, and the 2 hours flew. The light afternoon tea was delicious as well.

We had the spa, pizza + prosecco experience and then added on a back massage for the both of us with 10% discount which was lovely. The Garden Spa was compact but lovely. We'd definitely book again. Topped off with pizza with a beautiful view over the Yorkshire Dales and extra drinks outside in a lovely sunny day. A great day out.

Other Comments

A beautiful compact garden spa. Great staff. Great food. A beautiful spot we'd return to when possible. Only down side was the broken toilet downstairs meaning a walk back to the spa to use theirs but presumably unavoidable at the time. All in all a beautiful spot for a day out and house away from home.
