Appleby Manor is a handsome Victorian property on a hilltop in the Eden Valley. Dining options include the hotel's main restaurant and the more informal 1871 Bistro.
This offer includes an Aqua Thermal Journey for two in the hotel's Garden Spa. Facilities include a salt inhalation room, a pedidarium, and hydrotherapy pool.
The hotel is on the edge of the quaint market town of Appleby. There are independent shops to browse and a riverside path that winds around the town.
You can visit the Norman Centre and grounds of Appleby Castle. You'll learn about the keep's Norman heritage and its history dating back to Roman times.
The North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, and Lake District are all less than 30 minutes' drive away. A huge choice of scenic walking and cycling routes are on offer.
Lowther Castle is 25 minutes' drive away. This picturesque ruin is surrounded by 130 acres of gardens.

We were given a free upgrade to a lovely spacious room with jacuzzi bath and shower. The hotel has a lovely ambiance, comfortable lounge and conservatory bar with fabulous views. The staff were friendly and helpful. Spa facilities were superb. Overall the food was good although my wife’s steak was a little tough and breakfast scrambled eggs lacked seasoning.

Worth the travelling distance which was a bit of a trek . Staff very friendly and helpful . Food excellent and extra inclusions like late leaving time , dinner add ons and free cocktail a bonus.

This Hotel has some real charm about it with its original features etc plus spa and lovely dining area . Staff are very obliging and helpful. Set in grounds with beautiful views across the hills and forests .
Would recommend especially to couples who enjoy a serene and calm atmosphere to relax. Good restaurant and bars.

From arriving to leaving we were very well looked after. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful at all times, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere and is very clean. The food was delicious and well presented. The thermal aqua journey was an excellent experience, especially after a 5 hour walk!

When we booked through Travel Zoo we should have had a voucher to a gin distillery but apparently it has changed hands . We were not informed and only got a gin fizz instead which could only be used between 2 & 6pm .

Pleasant hotel, rooms are a bit dated, not many power sockets - and situated in awkward places. Our bathroom was very small, our friend’s was huge. Staff were excellent, very helpful apart from one waiter at evening meal. Breakfast service was very quick and food enjoyable.

It was 28° + while we were there, but the room was still being heated by water pipes running underneath the floor. It made for very uncomfortable nights. Only one window would partially open.
That’s the sole reason we won’t return.

Very helpful staff. Only downside was being too hot. Restaurant could do with a large ceiling fan, as I’m sure installing air conditioning would be very expensive to install in such an old building.

Lovely hotel set on a hill giving great views across the fields to Appleby. Rooms clean spacious and comfortable. Very nice public areas, restaurant in an airy conservatory is very nice indeed. Food was lovely but quite expensive. Spa was fabulous, particularly enjoyed the hydro pool and outdoor jacuzzis. Booking was a poor experience. Using the voucher should have been easy but I had to have 4 separate conversations over 2 days to find out if there was accommodation on the dates I wanted and what supplements had to be paid. The first 3 , reception seemed unable to get the answer. I was happy t pay an upgrade room fee but receptionist unable to confirm what it would be. On the 4th try that person completed the booking and clarified the upgrade fee in a few minutes wish I had been able to speak to them first time. Otherwise a wonderful stay with Appleby very close and a lovely place to walk around

After booking the deal we were contacted by the hotel willing us that the offer of a trip to the gin factory was no longer available and nothing would be offered on its place. The room was not fit for purpose the small window barely open and when it was opened guests were smoking and vaping in the hotel and its ground right below the window. The bathroom did not have and ventilation or ceiling smelt damp. Not a good experience. Guests were vaping constantly in the restaurant and playing their own music which spoilt the atmosphere. We left after one night as it was unbearable. The manager Andrew Hogg informed us that 51 weeks of the year the hotel is a lovely place to be unfortunately we were staying in the one week that it’s horrible. Would never return. Waste of money

The evening meals were delicious, beautifully presented and a treat. Breakfast had a sufficient buffet choice and cooked food menu. Both morning cooked breakfasts were hot, delicious and well cooked. I would recommend the poached eggs.

Booked a deluxe double room … yet the bed was 2 x singles pushed together.
As a resident guest you were not given complimentary slippers and only a hand towel to use in the spa area … yet if you were a guest only fir spa facilities you were given slippers and a bath towel… 2 x different standards, felt like being treated differently and hand towels did not provide suitable relaxation fir an individual navigating from one spa area to another to preserve one’s dignity … did not find the spa or hotel sleeping accommodation provided the TOTAL RELAXATION which the hotel websites promoting… very disappointing as we had travel 6 hours to get there .
