  • The Howard Arms has eight bedrooms, as well as a bar and lounge area. Sample locally sourced food and real ale in front of a cosy log fire.
  • Local walking routes start right on the pub's doorstep. Take a walk along the River Gelt, where stone for Hadrian's Wall was quarried. Opt for the Brampton Ridge walk—offering views of Scotland and the Lake District fells.
  • Brampton is well located for those planning to visit the historic Hadrian's Wall. Walk part of its 84-mile-long path; sections of this National Trail are under three miles away.
  • Close by is Lanercost Priory—an Augustinian monastery and English Heritage site. It's around five minutes' drive from the pub or less than an hour's walk.
  • The Roman fort of Birdoswald is less than 20 minutes' drive from the property. It's one of the best-preserved forts along Hadrian's Wall.

We have enjoyed many travel zoo mini breaks but this was easily one of the best. Incredible value for money- excellent room, superb food , lovely staff in an area we hadn’t visited before. We would certainly recommend The Howard Arms and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Really lovely cosy and homely stay at this modern B and B. We stayed two nights, and had the 3 course meal on the first night. Value for money is amazing. This place is in a great location for going on on walks and exploring the local area.
