The Royal Hotel is a Grade II-listed property that first opened in 1846. It is opposite Bath Spa station, close to some of the city's most popular attractions. It was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel to accompany the opening of the railway.
Brasserie Brunel, the hotel's Parisian-style restaurant, serves French specialities. The 1846 Bar offers a lighter menu, as well as cocktails, wines, and real ales.

Lovely hotel staff very friendly comfy beds . The breakfast was great and we had dinner there too and that was delicious

Mixed bag - old hotel with a faulty towers atmosphere. Some staff were very efficient others were not. Some food was excellent some was not. OK with the voucher but would not go back to be honest.

Staff were welcoming and helpful. Excellent central location to the station, river walks, restaurants, shops and city centre. Easy walking to the Thermae Spa and Roman Baths. The dinner included, offered a wide choice of menu with an extensive wine list. The breakfast was also plentiful and very good. The decor was a little dated, but facilities were clean and more than compensated by the staf, who were very friendly, making our stay enjoyable. It was very useful to have our luggage looked after, both on arrival and after checkout, as out train was a late evening departure.

We were very grateful to be one of the six cars able to use the car park. We were very impressed with all the staff especially the lady we met who was cleaning the bedrooms. We liked the restaurant and enjoyed our breakfasts, Again the staff in the restaurant were excellent. We would not go back mostly because we like exploring diferent places but also because we don't like cold showers and don't think using a wash basin with cold water is unhygienic. The helpful young man in reception suggested that we run the shower and wash basin taps at the same time should work. It did not, A notice advised us that we run the taps for a short time this did not work,

Lovely room, pleasant and helpful staff, good food, very clean. Last year, I accidentally pebble-dashed the dining room and several hotel guests, this year my husband did the same to our en-suite bathroom. The staff coped with the resulting mess without complaint or even charging us, and after cleaning up you'd never know what had happened. That's going over and above with a vengeance.

Stayed for 2 nights, very friendly greeting. Rooms slightly disappointing, decor not as appealing as seen online, in all 3 rooms we viewed. Requested upgrade to Superior Room when booking made. This did not appear to be the case on arrival, hence requesting better room. All sorted eventually.

The hotel is 200 years old, so obviously pretty quirky and some areas are in need of repair e.g. windows. However, this, for me, adds to the charm of the place. Our room was a superior classic with small but adequate en suite. Beds were comfortable and secondary glazing at the windows, which kept out the noise, as it overlooked the train station. Staff were efficient and friendly and the three course dinner was excellent. I don't eat fried breakfasts, but the food on other clients plates looked well cooked and plentiful.
This was a Travelzoo deal which included a cream tea, three course dinner with a glass of champagne and breakfast and I thought it all very good value for money.

The Royal Hotel is centrally located next to Bath Spa station and a short walk from the City Centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is very good and the rooms are very pleasant. It is a quite a noisy location, although this is to be expected. All in all it's ideal for a short break and I would stay there again.

Room had poor sound insulation , disturbed by noisy neighbors who ignored requests to be quiet. Virtually no WiFi signal. Requested change of room 11pm ISH. Moved to a quieter room . Lack of sleep spoilt what was planned as birthday treat. Rooms 103 and 104 to be avoided as we could hear virtually every word of our neighbours conversation as if they were in the room with us. Both I and my wife wear hearing aids. Despite their removal at night the level of noise remained a problem.

The room overlooked a busy road by the railway station and the bus station.
Consequently, without the secondary glazing we had a very noisy night

It's an old hotel but steeped in history. Mattress wasn't the most comfy but the room was clean and facilities good. Staff were so friendly and helpful (Andrea, David) It was refreshing to be able to order from the dinner menu without being made to feel a 'cheapskate on a deal'. There were no supplements for any of the dishes and the food was very nice. The scones included in the deal were warm and delicious and a nice touch. We were able to leave our luggage locked away whilst we explored the city both on the day of arrival and again on departure.

We booked The Royal Hotel through a Travel Zoo offer. The staff were pleasant and welcoming. Dave (bar staff) gave us a map of the city and pointed out places of interest.

Great hotel, directly opposite the train station. The staff are very friendly especially Tim on reception. He's always so pleasant and helpful every time we visit. Perfect location, parking available if booked, helpful staff, we had dinner which was good, breakfast was average. The hotel is very old and would benefit from a makeover,the floors are the creakiest ever, every inch of our room creaked, we were offered a different room but that would have been at the front with road noise

As normal we booked the travel zoo offer, the staff from all quarters were wonderful. We had room 203 which had a little card in the bathroom stating difficulties running hot water, we simple had none. The duty manager assisted as best as possible and eventually give us the room next door to shower and bath.
