Overview
The Mercure Liverpool Atlantic Tower Hotel is a 12-storey building in the city's bustling commercial district, with impressive views of the city and the Mersey.
The hotel is just across the street from Liverpool's waterfront. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it includes the famous Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building (known collectively as the Three Graces) which are less than five minutes' walk away. The Royal Albert Dock, which is home to Tate Liverpool, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and The Beatles Story museum, is 15 minutes' walk.
Other attractions within 15 minutes' walk include the Wheel of Liverpool (a Ferris wheel that offers impressive views of the Mersey), the Museum of Liverpool and the Cavern Quarter. Head to the latter to see the Cavern Club, the subterranean bar where the Beatles made their name, playing 292 gigs from 1961-1963.
At the hotel, you can sit and take in views of Liverpool's dynamic skyline with a drink at the Vue Bar and Terrace or grab a bite to eat at the hotel's Vista Restaurant.
All rooms have wall-mounted motifs of Liverpool attractions. Superior rooms are larger than Standard rooms and have added toiletries.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon to find that our booking had been mixed up with someone else's. A swift call to the manager by the charming receptionist soon sorted the problem out and in no time we were in the elevator to an 11th floor room with magnificent views over the Mersey and the waterfront. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The location is ideal with easy access to Albert Dock, The Beatles Museum, Maritime Museum, Liverpool Museum, the cathedrals, many fine restaurants and the thriving shopping centre.

We were immediately shocked by the shabby state of this prime location hotel. We’d booked an extra night and because of the Travelzoo offer for the first night, expected something much more in keeping with a major city hotel in the 21st century. Staff were lovely, they have a difficult job, but I would not come back here or recommend it. The only plus was the view from the “superior” room - the room itself was shabby (bathroom newer but very pokey).

Hotel good. Room good, Breakfast good. Only grumbles are with respect to communication which maybe a Travel Zoo issue but could also be the hotels as well. First issue. Travel Zoo say check in "AT" 2pm. Hotel reception and its web site say "FROM" 2pm. On arriving at 1.50 to check in, we found that the room wasn't ready and the receptionist hid behind their wording re check in "FROM" 2pm and the room might not be ready until maybe 4.30pm - it depends! Now I have never come across this definition of from before. If Check in is at/from 2.00 I would expect the room to be ready from 2.00pm and only in exceptional cases would it not be ready from that time. The reception looked after our bags but given the room was not ready we had to change our plans and return back to the hotel around 4.30/5.00 pm to get into our room and change etc. If the "FROM" definition used by the hotel is correct then this needs to be highlighted in the joining instructions. 2nd issue is the hotelcar parking. Travel Zoo instructions say that there is hotel car parking within 200m. Very good. the hotel says it has a car park on its web site but there is no other information. I looked on Google maps and there is a NCP car park at 200m from the hotel. So I'm thinking that the hotel and NCP must share it etc so on arrival i went straight there. I paid for 24hours which was slightly more expensive then prior information - however it wasn't a problem but what was a problem was the security of the car park in that it was just waste ground. On getting too reception we then observe some home made signs pointing guests to the actual car park which is at a different place / address. this information ie maybe just an address would have been invaluable in the Travel Zoo receipt and the hotel website. Given I had paid £12 for the NCP car park which has nothing to do with the hotel I had no choice to leave the car there and worry about its security for the rest of the trip. it was ok the next day which was good. as you can see the trip, hotel, etc was all good and will not stop us using your site again but a little more detail in the arrival instructions/confirmation would have been very useful. Obviously you are not responsible for what the hotel communicates or doesn't and I will be taking that up seperately with the hotel. I would be grateful for a reply wrt my points raised. but overall thank you for a very good trip. Regards. Robin

My husband and I loved this hotel. The only slight hiccup was that our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived, but we only had to wait a few minutes past the earliest check-in time. Apart from that, everything was perfect. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable; generally, the decor and furnishings are functional and well considered. The toiletries were good quality, tea coffee etc. were replaced daily. Despite being on the 11th floor, we never waited longer than a minute for a lift. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, with choices wide enough to suit every taste/dietary need. All the staff were helpful, although I'd like to give a special mention to Keith who is a real asset to the hotel; even though busy managing the breakfast service he was always smiling and happy to chat. I would certainly return to this hotel again if visiting Liverpool.

We loved our stay here. However, when we arrived on Sunday evening, during a torrential rain shower, a private function prevented us from eating in the hotel bar. There are simply insufficient tables in the bar to seat all of the customers who want to eat there when the restaurant is closed for a function, This fact was not conveyed to us on check in when there may have been a chance of booking a table in the bar, or in any pre arrival literature. Although we complained to the really lovely receptionists and it was noted in a book, NOONE got back to us and we decided that, based on this, we would not be able to recommend this hotel,

Travelzoo price fantastic for this hotel - I would not be keen on paying the full price for the hotel.
Great value for the price.
Linen fresh and clean.
Rooms could do with a little touch up here and there but clean enough.

It was our anniversary and I was so pleased to be allocated room 1207 which was a suite on the 12 floor with fantastic views. Rather dated and needed decorating, but for the money excellent value.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Fried eggs could have been better at breakfast, never a soft fried egg to be had, always well done, otherwise very good value.

Lovely room, nice and quiet. Disappointed with the restaurant, it lacks atmosphere, should be making the most of the views. Breakfast was okay.

A bottle of Prosecco was included in our deal, very disappointed, not sure when the bottle was put in the room, but it was right in the window, the ice had melted and the wine was lukewarm. It didn’t taste good either, barely fizzy, nasty, sorry.

Very pleasant experience, room clean and comfortable with superb view. Disappointed with bathroom fittings, we are both of average size, height and weight but found the hand basin higher than standard, the toilet lower than normal and the bath a little cramped. This did not spoil our total experience, but just made part of our stay a little uncomfortable.

Checking in was confusing. We were told our room would be ready at 2:30.we arrived at 1:30. We returned at 4:30 and the room was not ready our allocated room had been given to someone else. We waited 10 minutes and another room was given to us. Otherwise a good hotel and would recommend it .

We arrived a couple of hours before checking in time and, although the room wasn’t available they were happy to store our luggage securely while we went out sightseeing. The room really was a superior one with a king size bed and a fantastic view of the Liver Building and the Mersey. The hotel is excellently placed for exploration the waterside attractions and the City centre.
Other Comments
The breakfast was rather disappointing. Despite the alluring photos in the lift of tasty breakfast dishes with fresh fruit, we saw nothing like that and the cooked food, particularly the bacon and fried bread, had the unpleasant taste of ‘tired’ cooking oil. We’d happily pay a return visit but would probably opt for a room only deal and head out for breakfast.

Very good experience at a great hotel. Enjoyed a mini break in a wonderful location. The room on 6th floor was bigger than average with a super king sized bed. Best of all was the fantastic view of the river and Liver Building. The only niggle was the small bathroom.which had a shower over a deep bath.

The only disappointment was the towels. They were thin and one of the bath towels smelt dirty and the hand towels smelt of vinegar! The receptionist was fantastic and arranged for us to have fresh towels however, they still smelt of vinegar! If this could be sorted it would make the place brilliant!
