The Grade-II listed house was built at the turn of the 18th century. It has "stunning modern interior design" (The AA) and sits in 10 acres of grounds.
Oatlands Palace, built in 1538 by Henry VIII, once stood in these grounds. Monarchs, including Elizabeth I, James I, and Charles I, all resided there during their reign.
Famous figures who stayed at the hotel during the 19th century include actress Fanny Kemble, writer Emile Zola, and artist Edward Lear.
You can soak up more royal history at Hampton Court Palace (15 minutes' drive away). Windsor Castle is also around 30 minutes away by car.
Painshill Park in Cobham is 15 minutes' drive from the hotel. It's a masterpiece of garden design. Expect dramatic landscapes, calm waters, and follies with scenic views.

A lovely hotel with very small grounds.
The room was spacious, clean with good amenities.
Breakfast was very good, but too few staff so many full tables of dirty crockery.
Dinner... the starter was very good. The wait between starter and main was over an hour, which was totally unacceptable, then we were offered dessert, so had obviously been forgotten. Mains, the fish was overcooked as well as the chips, neither of us ate them. Dessert was mediocre.
The majority of the menu had supplements, this was not advised during booking.
All staff observed were polite and friendly.
So all in all a good stay just wouldn't recommend eating dinner.

We received a very warm welcome upon arrival. Our room was minimalist, large, very clean & comfortable.
The entrance area is stunning & there are many comfy sofas to just sit & relax in or to eat food ordered from the bar. The main dining room was lovely, dinner was nice, service was slow, but again the staff were attentive & friendly. The breakfast buffet was very good. The location for visiting several places of interest is very good. We really enjoyed our stay.

The drive and first impression of the hotel was lovely. There staff were very welcoming, was checked in quickly abd the rooms were ready.
However, when purchasing drinks and peanuts, couldn't believe the cost. Well over priced! £5 for a bowl of nuts! Food was nice, although supplements on most meals. What was a nice cheap break, turned expensive!
Fire alarm going off early hours of the morning didn't help, although there was an apology on reception. Rooms were very basic despite being the best.

Delightful location and very helpful, friendly staff. Our room was up several sets of stairs, which was fine for us, but some people may have struggled with luggage. Some areas at the front of the hotel have lift access. Overall a very relaxing place to unwind.

The included dinner menu was quite limited if you didn’t wish to pay extra supplements. We ended up paying an extra £15 for the food we chose. This was clearly marked, so not a hidden charge., but nevertheless added to our overall spend.

Breakfast was very good with excellent choices. The set menu dinner was disappointing - only soup and one other starter without having to pay an additional charge; the main courses again had two choices, battered fish or salad without additional charges ( plus service charges! ). Deserts were a wider choice - we both chose Eton Mess but were disappointed - this time of year in a 4* hotel one expects fresh strawberries not frozen/tinned, there was far too much cream and insufficient crushed meringue.

Four of us took advantage of the superb Travel Zoo offer and stayed for one night with Executive room, Full Breakfast, Three course evening meal and a bottle of Prosecco for £165 per couple. When we arrived we found we had been upgraded to a deluxe room which was absolutely massive. Breakfast was just amazing and great value. The three course evening meal was really very good but there is literally only two items on the starter & main which do not incur a supplement payment. Even the desserts had supplements added. For example if you wanted the cheeseboard as a dessert it would cost you £8 extra. Anyway we all enjoyed the food & the excellent, friendly service by all staff.
The only real negative we could see was the prices of the drinks at the bar!!! We bought two beers and two large glasses of house white and this cost us £37:50 which is quite steep. For clarity on this price we had two pints of Menabrea draught lager £8 each. Les Betes Rousses Blanc (House White) 250ml glass £10:50. Indesio Pinot Grigio Rosé (House Rosé) £11:00. Apart from that shock to our system we had a truly lovely stay but would suggest you steer well clear of the bar area unless you have very deep pockets.
There is ample safe parking and finding the place was very easy. Your room comes with all the things you would normally require, safe, TV, Coffee/Tea making facility and all the usual bathroom accessories and a hairdryer.
Thank you for an excellent trip, we all really enjoyed the visit.

The offer was sold as one with dinner included. The mum had two options which were included in the price, haddock or beefburger. The rest of the meal options (approx 4 ftom memory) had supplements attached to them. This was also the case for the starters. We also asked for an alternative to the prosecco and for a zinfandel we were charged an additional £5. My parents meal therefore cost them an additional £23.
I chose the lamb (additional £6 supplement). This was bland and tasteless. For dessert my husband had a lemon posset which ran off the spoon like lemon curd, it was inedible and I had the Eton mess and the warm was warm.
Service was very slow. We went in at 7.40 and came out at 10.30.
I understand that supplements are charged on food such as steak but 2 options included in the deal was unacceptable.
The hotel also had an very strange, unpleasant smell in the corridor between the bar and the restaurant.
There was no hairdryer in our room and the fan didn't work in the bathroom.
Food and bottles in the corridors outside rooms were not cleared for a considerable time.
Rooms were large and clean but shower pressure was not great.
The outside spaces needed done tidying.

Our 3 course meal was disappointing. There were only 3 items(1 per course) that didn't have supplement. Our first course arrived promptly & was delicious. Unfortunately our main course took one and a half hours to arrive - when it appeared my husbands food was lukewarm! The waiter kept reassuring us that the food was on its way & apologised repeatedly. We were very patient & enjoying the atmosphere BUT.... Eventually the restaurant manager came to apologise & removed the price supplements from the meal. Such a shame as the food was delicious. Needless to say we ate out the following evening. There was a large group of people waiting in reception when we arrived & there was obviously an event in another dinning room - the whoops & cheers could be clearly heard in the restaurant. If the hotel hosts such events it should employ more staff to cope with the dinning experience. Also when I emailed the hotel to confirm room configuration & book a table for dinner, they did not respond. did not respond. I had to phone them. We would love to return to the hotel in the future but I would sadly want assurance over the chef/staffs ability to cope with demand in the restaurant.

As we had 3 course dinner included in the deal, but most of the meals had additional charges added to them which was not explained until we saw the menue which made the meals very expensive.

We would have liked a quiet lounge area to sit for coffee perhaps? Masses of bedrooms but when hotel was busy with conferences etc. we would have appreciated a quiet area.

Lovely hotel and food was excellent. The only disappointment was the fire alarm going off twice at 3.30am which didn't make for a fully restful experience.

A lovely place in a god setting with plenty of parking. Very friendly & efficient staff who welcomed us warmly. Room was very clean & comfortable & there were lots of nice little touches that made it better. The bathroom was large with a smart mirror that it up but also demisted, the toilet roll was good quality & there was a heated towel rail with fluffy towels & nice toiletries. There was the usual drink making facilities with 2 bottles of water & an iron, ironing board & hairdryer as well as a safe. The bed was large & comfortable with nice pillows & linen & it was easy to adjust the temperature for our comfort. I also liked the console table which lifted up to reveal a mirror which was ideal to sit at for doing make up & there was a long dressing mirror. The restaurant was lovely with a varied & tasty menu & the staff were attentive. This was our second stay & we had a lovely time & will definitely return.

Could be easily improved with real flowers and better music in restaurant like jazz/classical. Could do with a comfy library to sit in and read.

Very comfortable rooms and loved the setting and the grounds. However it was a bit cold in the communal areas. There was a very nice looking fireplace in the lounge but no fire in it.

The deal included a three course meal but few choices came without added supplements, which was a bit of a shame. The standard of the meals was very good.
