"It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was amazing, THank you Chris. It was a lovely touch that Chris served some of the courses himself and explained the ingredients used had how it was prepared. Wonderful grounds, gardens and kitchen garden. We learned a lot about the history from the ground staff. A very enjoyable experience all round."

Overview

Goldsborough Hall is a 17th-century stately manor in the small village of Goldsborough in North Yorkshire, less than 15 minutes' drive from the market town of Knaresborough.

The hall is a perfect base from which to explore the shops of nearby Harrogate (20 minutes' drive), historic York (30 minutes' drive) and the city of Leeds (40 minutes' drive away). Bolton Abbey, Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey and Harewood House, as well as Ripley, Knaresborough and Skipton castles, are between 10 and 45 minutes' drive away.

Dinner is served in the main dining room, which holds two AA Rosettes and offers à la carte and tasting menus. Breakfast and lunch are served in the Orangery, with views of the landscaped gardens, while afternoon and cream teas can also be taken in the Jacobean Library or The Princess Mary Drawing Room. The latter is named after one of the Queen's aunts, who lived at the property in the 1920s. There is a terrace for al fresco dining in fine weather. We've also negotiated a 2-course set-menu lunch for two, for £35.

According to The AA Hotel Guide 2019, "hospitality at Goldsborough Hall is second to none. The luxury bedrooms are appointed to the highest standards, and the bathrooms have a real 'wow' factor". Deluxe Rooms are in the hall's adjoining Dower House, while Luxury Rooms are split between the Dower House and the Garden House. Wi-Fi is free.

Marks on bedroom carpet, damaged bath, toilet roll holder hanging of,hole in towel no complementary water in room (£3 per bottle) Breakfast service very poor, 1 member of staff for 22 guests. Had to walk into the kitchen to get orange juice replenished. Overall not a 5 star experience!

We had the 5 course tasting menu which was exceptional. However the whole experience was superb and we cannot wait to go back with some friends as well. Highly recommended.

The gardens are gorgeous and well worth a stroll before dinner.

Beautiful building and gardens, lovely setting, very quiet, receptionists very nice and helpful. Catering side a bit like faulty towers ! Mainly kitchen related I think, although good quality ingredients were evident. Room was ok but smaller than expected from description overlooking rooftops (the hall was not fully occupied) a shame with such lovely gardens all around.

We were upgraded as the stairs were a problem. The room we were originally allocated would have been quite small, though pleasant, but would not have been such good value. Food is excellent and staff very helpful.
Other Comments
The booking wording suggested that two dinners were included as the price each night was the same. This was not the case and this should be made clearer

Staff and food were fabulous
Other Comments
Travelzoo stated 2 breakfast and 2 dinners but only 1 was included. Being on the “deal” meant an inferior room.

Staff lovely especially the waitress who served us on Friday evening. Strange atmosphere, maybe louder background music in the library before dinner would have been better. Food lovely and wine flight great.

Generally excellent but original room for TZ deal was quite small. We paid for an upgrade to a high quality suite which improved the experience.
