Saunton Sands Hotel is a Condé Nast Johansens-recommended property with direct beach access on the North Devon coast. It has a 2-AA-Rosette restaurant and is praised by The Daily Telegraph for being extremely child friendly.

The hotel overlooks the 3.5-mile-lon Saunton Sands and the adjacent Braunton Burrows, part of a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Braunton Burrows, the second-largest sand-dune system in England, is home to a large number of rare plants and animals.

Mathias Oberg, who has worked in many Michelin-starred restaurants (including Oblix at The Shard in London), is head chef at the 2-AA-Rosette-awarded main restaurant, which has sea views and Art Deco-inspired designs. "The kitchen is impassioned about using only West Country produce and turns out some stimulating dishes in the contemporary mould," says The AA.

Susy Atkins, a familiar face on BBC One's "Saturday Kitchen" and wine columnist for The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, has worked closely with the hotel to develop its wine list.

The new Source Spa and Wellness centre opened in September, 2018. Facilities include a salt inhalation steam room, a Finnish Aroma sauna, a Beach View Marine Vitality Pool, a gift shop and a supervised playroom. Spa treatments are available at a supplement.

The gym was renovated in August, 2018. The outdoor pool is open May-September. Stay in a Sea View Room for views of Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows.

The food was excellent. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The spa and pool were equal to their photos (very rarely the case) ! The beach was amazing and we walked its full length of three miles twice. There was a Danny Boyle WW1 Pages of the sea commemoration taking place on the beach when we arrived on the 11th and had a birds eye view from the room window which was fantastic to see. Had the breakfast cooked to order on the Monday as the hotel was fairly quiet and a buffet breakfast on the Tuesday. Both of the highest quality. The evening meals were excellent, they use the finest local produce and the steaks are full of flavour and tender. The restaurant looks good with It's Art Deco style. The wine waiter who was on duty on the Monday evening was good fun and very efficient. There was a bit of winter maintenance going on which is to be expected, and a bit of a mix up with a cream tea ! Neither of which put a dampener on things.. Will certainly be going back

You don't realise how good the position of the hotel is until you reach the car park! Then you see the beautiful beach and unspoilt location. Views from inside the hotel are amazing.

The Hotel is in a superb position. The staff (of whatever nationality) were courteous, polite and attentive (though in one or two cases, seemed rather over-worked!).

This is a criticism - we think - of Travelzoo, rather than the hotel...... We were somewhat disconcerted, when handed the Menu at dinner on our first evening, to be told that, on our deal, there would be a supplement payable if we chose individial dishes priced at over £10! We do not remember any such caveat being shown in Travelzoo's details of the offer......and we found it embarassing to be told this, in the hearing of other diners! On examination of our bill, the total such surcharge appeared to be £15.70 - not significant in terms of the total cost of our 2 nights stay, but we see no justification for any such charge. Or was it the hotel which unilaterally imposed this condition, without the knowledge of Travelzoo? We would very much like to know where this fault lies. This incident rather spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay.
