TOP 20 - Sells out quickly!

Eastwood Hall is a Georgian manor house surrounded by 26 acres of parkland, 30 minutes' drive from the centre of Nottingham. An overnight stay in the modern annex of this Grade II-listed property is now £89, up to 44% less than the usual price, and includes:

  • Accommodation in a Superior room, a 2-course à la carte dinner, full English breakfast, and a late checkout until 3pm, for two
  • A bottle of prosecco (worth £34)
  • It's £149 for two nights, with dinner on the first night and prosecco once per stay

Why We Love It

  • Eastwood Hall is set in 26 acres of parkland on the edge of Eastwood, a former coal-mining town with little red-brick shops
  • Eastwood is the birthplace of author DH Lawrence, and there's a museum dedicated to him nearby
  • The hotel is built around a Grade II-listed Georgian manor house

Eastwood Hall sits in 26 acres of private grounds, 30 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre. There's a Georgian manor house (pictured) at the heart of the hotel, built for use as a family home around 1810, and later used by British Coal as a regional office. Today the manor is a wedding and conference venue, and bedrooms are in a modern annex at the back of the hotel complex.

The property is on the edge of Eastwood, a former mining town bordered by farms and countryside. Durban House, a heritage centre that used to be the offices for the colliery where DH Lawrence's father worked, is five minutes' walk from the hotel. The DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum is the author's childhood home (open 10am-4pm Tuesday-Saturday) and is a 10-minute walk away; you can learn how growing up in Eastwood influenced the author's controversial writing. The Blue Line Trail is a walk that links all of the Lawrence-related sights nearby.

Beauvale Priory and Felley Priory are around 10 minutes' drive away; both have quaint tea rooms that serve homemade cakes and light lunches. The Derwent Valley Heritage Way is a 55-mile-long footpath that runs through the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site. It passes a series of 18th- and 19th-century mill complexes and the watercourses that powered them, and can be reached from Belper or Duffied, which are both less than 30 minutes' drive from the hotel. Wollaton Hall, Papplewick Hall and Thrumpton Hall stately homes can all be reached within 30 minutes, and Sherwood Forest -- of Robin Hood fame -- is 45 minutes' drive away.

All 150 bedrooms are in a contemporary annex, and are decorated in neutral tones. There's an on-site restaurant and bar. Wi-Fi is free.

Didn't think the food was very good, there was hardly any cabbage with the chicken pie and I don't agree to paying extra for chips at £3-50 per portion to go with a £17 steak! apart from that the hotel was very nice.

Deal was very good value
Other Comments
Initial room we were allocated had a moth infestation (several in the room; carpet eaten away etc.), which we were not told about! Moved rooms and although no evidence of moths, clearly some had been in the room and dealt with. Restaurant staff very friendly and really good service - Matt and Karen(?) especially

The service at dinner was appalling. The delay on serving courses unacceptable. Some guests were offered drinks and yet some of us were left disappointed.

Friendliness of staff and deal was exceptional
Other Comments
Shame it is really a conference/wedding venue. Although staff exceptional, wide corridors and walking past meeting rooms to bedrooms felt "cold".

Lovely location

Bed wasn’t comfortable, evening meal was a disaster. Service was very slow I am gluten free and was given a gluten free roll but the main course had onion rings on the plate, I had to wait for another meal to be cooked, my husband ate his meal then later I ate mine. We had ordered sirloin steak however they ran out so swapped it for rump without telling us. The manager removed the extra charges and gave us a brandy in a wine glass! To make up for the problems. It wasn’t the evening we had planned
