Why We Love This Hotel

  • The Metropole Hotel has been run by the same family for over 100 years.
  • The AA praises the property's "elegant interior" and range of spa facilities. These include a pool, a sauna, and a steam room (supplements apply for treatments).
  • Llandrindod Wells is a Victorian spa town in Powys in Mid Wales. It's a great base from which to explore the Elan Valley. This stunning landscape takes in cascading rivers and a chain of man-made lakes. The visitor centre is around 25 minutes' drive away.
  • For even more walking trails and scenic vistas, head to Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Formerly known as the Brecon Beacons, the park is less than 45 minutes' drive away.

Very good but no electric charge point at hotel and none in Llandidrod Wells other than trickle feeders

Friendly staff apart from one lady in the main restaurant who never smiled, and gave me the impression it was beneath her to be serving you.

The room which was extremely tired looking. Also declining the dessert included in our deal and opting for a pot of tea instead for which we were charged an additional £8.40 for !!

We really enjoyed our stay. My husband comes here about 3 times a year with various motorbike clubs and said it really wasn't very nice but we found it very enjoyable

The young man in the spa showed us around and showed his Starbucks menu which he seemed very proud of. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the spa facilities but certainly will next time

Stayed here about 30 years ago and it’s much improved since that first experience . We had a very pleasant, large twin room. We were pleased to see sash windows which opened to allow for some fresh air. Our deal included a very good 3-course evening meal. Staff were polite, helpful and attentive.

The only annoying feature was that the bathroom light is motion-controlled and so, while you’re occupying the room, it’s on all the time. In these days, when we’re all energy conscious, it seems awful to waste electricity so willfully. It’s particularly irksome at night as, should you need to use the toilet, the whole bedroom lights up like the Tower ballroom …and the light remains on for about 15 minutes. We were both annoyed by this unnecessary feature. We learned at reception that it cannot be switched off. Madness!!
