A lovely manor house on the coast. Easy access to the coastal path and a few minutes drive from Berwick. Excellent food and very welcoming staff , treat yourself to the tasting menu - the accompanying wines were also well selected. Nice rooms - mini bar and coffee machine a nice touch. The only slight downside was permitting a dog into the breakfast area/ restaurant. The travel zoo deal was well worth having , given the quality of this hotel its staff and food.

Everything was lovely - location, room, food and staff only slight downside was the number of dogs staying fortunately only one in the restaurant when we dined but others disturbed us barking and coming passed our room to go out quite early in the morning. We are not anti dog having had them for most of our lives but we didn't take into where we were staying until bed time or left them in the car overnight

We were in a room above the kitchen and the noise of the extractor fan was annoying from 7am til 10pm. Also the room had little storage so we had to live out of the suitcases, which isn't great. I assume we were in a basic room due to the offer, but would have been unhappy paying full price for that room!

The hotel is just north of Berwick on Tweed on the coastal pathway, with sea views. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and attentive. We had our dog with us and they made such a fuss of her. We had the opportunity to visit lots f coastal villages that we’ve never been to before- all a short drive away.
Food at the hotel was excellent, from breakfast to dinner, which ranged from fish and chips to fine dining. I would gladly visit again. We had a great time.

A few observations. Paintwork a little damaged in places, including the front door. No lighting beside a mirror in the bedroom /bathroom (room 18) and no electric socket near a mirror. Pillows firm. (I prefer soft)
A curtain in the dining room had partially come off its hooks. Noticed this at dinner. Still the same the next day.
Fillet of beef overcooked (for all four of us) Ordered medium, received it well done. We still enjoyed it.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

First visit and thoroughly enjoyed our three days. Staff are outstanding: warm, professional and friendly. Room was excellent in all respects especially the classy new bathroom. Walk in shower a stand out. Hotel food is never going to please everyone. Generally very good but some dishes were disappointing, such as an overcooked salmon main, poached eggs always hard, cheeses served straight from the fridge. Staff were keen to remedy problems which is why we’ll go back.

My husband and I have just returned from 2 day night visit in the truly lovely hotel. The whole place is just amazing- the building itself, the room, the grounds, the food, the bar.....and every member of staff we dealt with was first class. Really attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We were in a classic room, number 16 overlooking the sea. It exceeded our expectations- the more expensive rooms must be very fancy indeed! We have a lot of weekend breaks from our home in the northwest and have had upgraded rooms many times that were not as nice. A great visit- lovely atmosphere amongst staff and guests too when Storm Amy knocked out the electricity on our first night!
A great first visit- a smart and classy hotel with excellent facilities, yet still retaining a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend and we will go back for sure.

Stayed at Marshall Meadows Hotel at the end of April 2025 on a Travelzoo deal. Nice hotel although some parts need updating. We had a classic room which was fine but it was on the side of the house next to the kitchen ventilation units which were running until about 1am so couldn’t get to sleep. Staff were great, food great. The bar seems bias towards cocktails, spirits and wine, very little on draught. Located in a quiet rural area with coastal walks towards Berwick and the Scottish border in the opposite direction. Cost £9 in taxi from Berwick. Overall we enjoyed our stay, better room next time though.

Excellent staff, restaurant very good as was food.
Room attractive and quite spacious if little dark as not large window, very good bathroom. Think all windows old and require replacing as although internally renovated, condensation has already caused paintwork to flake and some black mould to appear at bottom of window..which is a shame as otherwise the decor and furniture was fresh and of high standard.
Overall the stay was excellent value for money with the Travelzoo deal.

We missed having a comfortable, cosy residents lounge to relax in following dinner; the drawing room is set up as a secondary eating area for lunches and snacks so has lots of square or rectangular tables with just one sofa in front of the rather bare fireplace. Lighting very bright too. Hard floors with no rugs to soften. Cocktail lounge on other hand is very dark with better layout however of smaller occasional tables and definitely is more pleasant place to sit in daylight hours. Think in warm weather the outside spaces for sitting will be our preferred option. We are booked to return with a friend and her two dogs, in July!

Tried to open window but wouldn't open, that was a downfall as like a window open abit .Apart from that breakfast was good, surroundings was good for either a short or long walk. Second my husband really impressed.

Breakfasts were very good and we also enjoyed an evening meal in the hotel on the first night. Staff were very friendly.

If you fancy a short walk, it only half a mile along the cliff top north to the Scottish border. Otherwise the coastal cliff walk will take you south to Berwick - and you can get a bus back!

Waitress/ receptionist (didn’t get name but wearing a bee broach) was extremely friendly and professional.
Food was very tasty and well prepared and presented.

Heating broken so had to use fan heater for duration of stay, which was satisfactory but also no hot water for first day so cold showers! Apologised but no suggestion of compensating for inconvenience.
Rooms comfortable but needed a good vacuum. Bed not very well made possibly due to ill fitting sheets.
Unusual not to have a light above at least one mirror in bedroom or bathroom so would benefit from this.

We arrived quite late and tired. so it was lovely to feel that we were expected when we mentioned our name and were literally taken to our room. This was beautifully comfortable and decorated in relaxing colours. The beds were comfortable and dinner in the restaurant was delicious, as was breakfast. I would totally recommend the kipper.
The staff seemed to go out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, with more than one member of staff saying how much they enjoyed working at the hotel.

We really enjoyed the local town of Berwick upon Tweed with it's battlements and Lowrey walk and the variety of coffee shops. Though the weather was cold windy and wet, we still managed to find a castle that was open in March and managed a walk along the beautiful coastline

Two night stay in between Xmas and new year. Hotel and staff were exceptional could do enough to help and make stay comfortable and relaxing. Location is not too great as it’s not in walking distance of anything really. Taxis were good and probably if we had stayed in the summer it would have been more accessible

I booked the hotel as a surprise for my husbands 70th birthday. We arrived early and were advised when we were able to check in which was earlier than the check in time. We were shown to our room by a member of reception staff which was a lovely touch, the room was very clean and well presented. The hotel was lovely and beautifully decorated for the festive season. We ate in the restaurant the two nights we stayed and had plenty of choice. The food was lovely, well cooked and very well presented.

While we had a lovely relaxing time there when I booked there was no info. On accessibility if like me I am not to steady on my feet. There was no lift due to the age of the building. There was many stairs to get up to our room. It would be helpful if travel zoo stated about accessibility. There was no rail even at the front entrance and my partner needed to walk me up them.

Our stay was only marred on the last night by 2 things. 1/. Despite having told the hotel that my wife is allergic to fish and seafood, they managed to serve a salad accompaniment to her main dish, which contained Anchovies. Fortunately my wife spotted this and it was replaced. 2/. Having finished our main course we waited for half an hour before anyone came to take our desert order. After waiting a further 15 minutes with no sign of it, we gave up and left the restaurant. Such a pity as it soured our whole experience of the hotel.
