Lovely location and hotel. Although clearly in need of some cosmetic work, it's still an impressive building. Evening meal and breakfast were impressive and Ruthin is a lovely small town.

Hotel is lovely, although looking a bit tired in certain areas. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The meal choice was limited and there wasn’t enough variety if you are dining for more than one night. Spa facilities were excellent.

We brought friends, who hadn't visited before, as a surprise. It was still impressive, but I was VERY DISAPPOINTED at the lack of heating in the common rooms.
When we arrived at 4pm, we had a drink but stayed in our coats. Later before and after dinner there was no attempt at vented heating. I asked the waiter to turn on the small electric fire but he shrugged and said it hadn't worked for weeks. The rooms are huge and cold. I had brought a nice dress and had to wear a fleece on top. It was March and 1 degree outside.
The other room had an open fire that hadn't been topped up and was useless for heat unless you were right in front of it. So after dinner after shivering for 30 mins, we went back to the rooms depriving you of additional drinks revenue.
Also our friends were put off returning because of this.

A wonderful hotel, in a beautiful location. It is a little frayed around the edges but the friendly staff, great food and lovely ambiance make up for it. The TravelZoo deal was amazing value for such a lovely place. They are also super dog friendly and my pooch had a wonderful time. We ate lovely food, went for walks direct from the Castle, had drinks by the fire, afternoon tea in one of the lounges, relaxed in the steam room and sauna, wandered into Ruthin (really lovely town with lots of independent shops). A fantastic break.

Much of the old castle is in ruins. From walking through the impressive front entrance we was made very welcome .wash booking in shown to room 120 wonderful beds and super soft pillows.room very clean and well equipped.massive bath and lovely bathroom.the hotel has lots of atmosphere and period furnishings.the huge fireplaces are amazing.we didng use the outdoor hot tubs or gym .but the magical lighting on the pathways enroute to this area was great.lots to investigate around the well kept gardens, the autumn trees looked very colourful.resteraunt food was amazing served very pleasantly.Ruthin is a lovely little town with lots to see and only a gentle walk from the hotel.would definitely come again. Thank you Ruthin Castle for a wonderful stay and Travelzoo for the deal

Good situation. Evening meal good. Breakfast could have been a bit better as heated containers didn'tkeep food piping hot and were a bit awkward to open (sideways). Bathroom looked very stylish with a roll top bath but no flat surface to put shampoo, soap etc and the bowl sink sitting on a worktop had been fitted by a very tall man!
The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of light in the bedroom
Despite these one or two reservations it was overall a good visit and we would visit again.
