Blackpool is the "quintessential British seaside experience", according to The Independent, and the 4-star Imperial Hotel on the North Promenade, close to many popular attractions, is a great base from which to explore it.

Blackpool's historic tramway runs from Starr Gate to Fleetwood, taking in the Golden Mile -- the stretch between the North and South Piers -- along the way. Trams stop directly outside the hotel.

As well as having a "prime seafront location" (The AA Hotel Guide 2017), the hotel is less than 20 minutes' walk from The Grand Theatre and Blackpool Tower. Blackpool Pleasure Beach, voted one of TripAdvisor's Top 10 Amusement Parks in the UK, is less than 10 minutes' drive and less than 20 minutes by tram.

The hotel's "attractive split-level restaurant that overlooks the seafront" (The AA Hotel Guide 2017) serves steaks, vegetarian options and fish dishes. There's also a health and leisure club with a heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a solarium, a Jacuzzi and a fitness suite.

Room service is available 24 hours a day. Wi-Fi is free.

The food in the restaurant was excellent and the decor in the main areas very subdued but rather elegant.
Other Comments
Obviously the hotel is updating all its areas and some, including the spa and the bedrooms still need some work but this did not detract from the overall ambiance.

The friendliness of the staff, comfy bedroom - although we paid extra for a sea view room - and the great food. A bonus was the lovely weather!

The Maitre D was first class. He had only been in his job six weeks and made you feel very welcome in the restaurant.

The whole experience was fantastic. Staff all helpful and welcoming. Rooms had everything needed and very clean. The evening meal was excellent and enjoyed with a very good bottle of wine at reasonable price. Would definitely recommend and return

The evening meal was perfect.

The hotel was so quiet even though there were lots of guests. The evening waiter/waitress were very helpful and polite. The waiter/waitress breakfast staff weren't as helpful. The vegetarian sausages weren't to my taste. The cheese was wet and the pastries weren't fresh. We had an accessible room which was the best we have had with plenty of room for a wheelchair to move around in both the room and the bathroom. We both had a wonderful experience.

The 4th floor room was not of the standard we expected. The carpets were thread bear and curtains were torn. The window frames and skirting boards were dirty and the walls and ceilings in a bad way.
