With dinner and fizz included in the price we got a terrific deal with Travelzoo. The food was delicious and the fizz tasted really nice (and we're not the biggest fans of prosecco ).
It's a very nice building that has seen some obvious decor upgrades recently. The room was a decent size for what we needed and was spotlessly clean. It too looked like it had been decorated recently. A wee issue with the room was two large steps down to the bathroom which isn't ideal in the middle of the night. In addition, perhaps a wee shuffle of the furniture would give the room a more spacious appearance.
We found all the staff to be very pleasant and attentive.
The location isn't perfect with a busy road being required to cross before we could have a stroll along the riverside but was close enough to get to surrounding places of interest by car.
All in all a lovely stay which we would happily do again.

We had no hot water in our room so unable to shower.
We were advised that breakfast was from 7.30 to 9.30 in the garden room. We checked what was the latest time we could eat and was informed by reception that 9.15 would be fine. We arrived at 9.15 and placed our order which arrived promptly. The food was plentiful and of good quality however we did not really enjoy it as we felt rushed by the dining room staff hovering, waiting to whip our plates away.

The only negatives are the hotel is a little tired could do with some updating. The room was very attractive but the four poster bed creaked with the slightest movement and very creaky floor boards. Nice clean modern bathroom with large fluffy white towels. Had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good. Staff very pleasant and helpful

Decor a bit tired, particularly in en-suite which would be better…and safer…with a shower rather than a shower over a narrow bath. Breakfast experience could be better. All ingredients first class but too much put out early and left on heat, so food overcooked and dry for later breakfast times.

The hotel was very homely and comfortable. The staff were all very polite and friendly. Our room was lovely and comfortable. The dining room was a beautiful space, whick overlooked the gardens.
The management should perhaps consider providing name badges for their staff to make it a more personal experience. The dining room is decorated tastefully and is a lovely space to consume your meal.
Another suggestion would be to implement a guest dress code in the evening for dinner. There was a young man who attended in jeans shorts?!

Well equipped hotel close to Lake Windermere. We dined in the hotel - dinner was of above average standard with good and efficient service by friendly staff. Breakfast was self service but offered a good 'full english' selection but perhaps little else. We used the pool which was a good facility although the changing facilities were a little sparse. WE were fortunate to have a room overlooking the lake and it was spacious - all things worked perfectly - the bathroom was recently refurbished to a high standard of finish. All in all, we were very satisfied with our visit to the hotel, rated it very highly for value for money and would be happy to recommend it to others.

Initially, the situation - right next to an incredibly busy road - very difficult to pull into and out of the hotel in a car or to walk out and cross the road. Then the reception we received - initially ignored while the Receptionist spoke to a workman - just chatty and laughing, not regarding work. Very frosty welcome, well, barely a welcome. Straight into times we could and couldn't eat, sign here, sign there then vague directions to the room (not easy to find). The room, whilst spacious enough, had the most uncomfortable bed and pillows ever experienced in a hotel. TV reception was poor. Carpet thinbare and cleanliness lacking - I found a pink ear plug below the bed while looking for something. Having seen the cleaners 'clean' the leisure centre we decided not to have our room 'serviced'. The changing rooms are a tsunami of water when using the shower with its ill fitting curtain. Beneath the bench seat, dirt was caked onto the floor. The pool was cold. Jacuzzi ok but the switch was down at the other end of the pool. As lessons are conducted right up to and beyond 7pm, with splashing children and an instructor and parents alongside the very small pool, swimming did not appeal. There are 3 machines in the 'gym'. The hotel is dingy, carpets worn and stained in circulation areas. It needs millions spending on the place. The bar is dark and uninviting. The restaurant lads were friendly enough. However, tables were sticky. Food was very average. Breakfast absolutely basic - and STILL no teapots but return journeys to an urn/teabag. I read a review several months old asking for this to be changed. It speaks volumes for the amount of notice management pay to reviews. I did ask the restaurant lads for a teapot and was given one, but why should we have to ask? Checkout equally brusque. We couldn't wait to leave and would rather stay at home or pay triple the price but be somewhere much nicer, like the Swan hotel opposite across the bridge, or the Ambleside Salutation, where we had been the few days previously. It will make me very wary of any future Travelzoo offers.

Really nice short break . Fantastic value for money . Very welcoming and efficient staff . Good quality food with generous portions. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone who is looking for substance over style ( more important for most people looking for a reasonably priced relaxed stay ). Hope this review is helpful .

Had a very good deal through travelzoo so happy overall. Cooked breakfast ok but only brown or white sliced bread and small croissants. Coffee poor and long delay when urn ran out. Evening meals very good. Swimming pool and jacuzzi but steam room used as storage cupboard. Might have to share swimming pool with one or two children having swimming lessons. Garden borders look a bit unkempt. Staff very friendly but, if you book a time for your evening meal, you won’t be able to change it.

Main meals for wife had salmon and noodles, very little salmon and very salty noodles, made them ineatable. My Cajun lamb was one of the worst meals I’ve had, lamb mainly fat and gristle,if you managed to cut any meat of it was tough and hard, for about £50 for two mains was a total letdown.

Very approachable staff who could not do enough for us. The evening meal was excellent in every regard. Full of flavour, hot plates, prompt service with a smile and a huge choice. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay thankyou

We spent a night at the hotel with our little border terrier, Tilly. We were put in annex room which was away from the main hotel. This was perfect for the dog as we could let her straight out from the room into the grounds of the hotel. The room itself was a little tired and needed some updating but the bathroom area had been totally refurbished and was modern and clean. There was an issue with the floorboards in the room upstairs above us. They were very creaky and did cause disruption when the other guests moved around in their room. Our package included an evening meal and breakfast. The food was extremely tasty and well presented and the hotel was pretty busy so the chef did well in getting the food out to us under pressure. All the staff were very polite and helpful which again was a credit to them as they were doing more than one job, serving behind bar, bringing out food and operating reception (a big well done to them all) our dog could not have been treated better by the staff with a cost of £15 for her stay, this we found was also quite reasonable as sometimes hotels charge double that amount. The hotel was conveniently located for public transport and you could also walk through backbarrow and on into Havertwaite where you could catch the steam train. All in all a great night away which we would recommend and we would definitely visit the hotel again

Reception staff. Accommodation wasn't what we requested. Eventually, although requesting a room that wasnt for disabled person they magicaly found another room after I heard them discussing our problem with other guests. Not professional! The bar area seating was not fit for purpose. The chairs fabric wasn't just worn it was ripped apart and seat padding was what you would be sitting on. No cocktail menu! Apparently the pool was not available due to boiler issues and some rooms had no heating including ours.

The room was a little dated but was clean and fresh and the view onto the gardens was lovely. We had a starter and main n ate in the huntsman’s bar which was relaxing and chilled. Our breakfast was really nice which we ate in the restaurant rather than the huntsman’s bar as this was for people who had brought their dogs with them. My experience at Newby Bridge Hotel was overall a reasonably good one. The front of house staff were good. The restaurant breakfast staff did not have much customer communication skills but the evening staff were better. The food was reasonable but I would have liked some none battered/deep fried food options i.e some fresh fish and fresh vegetable dishes. The rooms were adequate but in need of a refurbishment and the bathroom definitely could have been cleaner. The bath didn't have taps and the shower was set in the wall so myself being short in height could not have a shower. The water came out of the end of the bath from an integrated overflow which meant the bath could not be rinsed by myself or the cleaners or by using the shower head as it was fixed in the wall.
The bed was comfortable and the linen clean but the old wooden Four Poster was creaky and overwhelmed the room. The huge wooden wardrobe was much too big but housed a big ironing board and iron. There was tea, coffee and biscuits provided but no bottled water.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and its location perfect for exploring the Lake District. I did not have time to use the spa area so can not comment on that.

Suggestions
1. Bottled water in the room should be standard.
2. Room and bathroom update
3. Fresh vegetables/fish and less deep fried food.
My expectation was met as this was a Travelzoo deal so with the meal voucher, breakfast and bottle of Prosecco and the price I paid I was very happy with. I would, however, not be happy had I paid the Hotel's Tariff for anything I experienced.

The Hotel was run on a budget we realised this when we drove in and seen a trip bus in the car park. The room was not to bad as the bathroom had been modernised but trying to sleep at night was horrrendous as the hotel was on a very busy main road constant traffic and large wagons travelling during the night none stop.Food poor ate nothing on the first night , not so bad on the second night. Breakfast cereals cheap and tasteless one little bowl of mixed chopped fruit, about half a dozen scrunched up croissants which looked very un appetising not a good selection for people who don't eat a fried breakfast. Some of the cutlery was huge and ancient some of the silver covering was worn off.The upholstery on the chairs needed a good steam clean and some of the chairs in the bar needed chucking away big holes in them.Could not wait to get home.

Easy parking and check in lovely view over the lake only slight downside was a very hot day / night and had to have window open and the road was noisy. The food was good but could have a couple more vegetarian meals on offer. I would still recommend this hotel overall it's good value for money

Some fittings are a little tired and could do with updating. Food a bit variable too, but generally good and generous portions. The pool is very small and the almost daily swimming lessons make it impossible to use at the same time. Some of the staff are truly delightful, special mention for Scott. Others less so.

Just disappointed that when we stayed the pool was being chemically treated and I couldn’t take my morning swim. The website said their were swimming lessons until 7pm which didn’t allow me to take an evening swim, when in fact the lessons now finish at 5.30 but no where was this indicated.

Although there's was a coach party also staying here there were no issues with service. The pub-style bar is a great addition & with reasonable prices.
Location couldn't be better, with a picturesque mile long walk to the Windemere ferry & bus stop right outside the hotel. Best to note though that the bus to Bowness & Windemere towns is only every 2 hours!

Reception staff friendly and provided chocs and bubbly for my wife's birthday - which was a nice gesture and appreciated.

Room outlook (onto the untidy service yard, staff caravans and laundry store pallets) was extremely disappointing. Did not live up to the Hotel's claim that it offers views of the Lake District. The room outlook could have been anywhere urban. Room booked was for a ground floor (as wife has walking difficulties) twin (as per the website description) but room offered was a first floor family room. After complaint, was offered a ground floor family room with view of service yard. Most disappointing and taught us to be wary of Travelzoo offers in future. Must remember to double check with the hotel and get confirmation of accommodation in writing.
Meals disappointing so ate across the road at the Swan Hotel - which guaranteed views of the Lake District but forfeited our Saturday 'inclusive' dinner voucher.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. One or two negatives were the evening menu was a bit uninspiring ie burgers, pie and even spam fritters! My husband ordered fish and chips on first night and the fish was dry and overcooked. Also the wooden tables in the dining room were very sticky. Grassy area at front of hotel could do with more seating for guests. Not very good. Breakfast was fine. Plenty of choice. On the good side, staff were very helpful and friendly and our room was spacious with a lovely garden view.

From our initial arrival nothing was to must trouble for the staff. Our room was one of the 'garden rooms' with direct access to the beautiful rear landscaped gardens. We ate in the main restaurant for the evening meal. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was very good as was the food choice and wine list. We slept well with no external noise issues even though the hotel is close to a main road. Breakfast was again very good with an extensive selection to chose from.

The hotel is pet friendly which we don’t mind but as for the rooms may be better to locate guests without pet in a different part of the hotel to those with pets? Our room was next to one with a dog which kept barking, might be because it was left alone in the room?

We had driven past this hotel many times but with the Travelzoo Offer we thought we would like to book. We were not disappointed from the front desk to the waiting on staff we were made to feel very welcome and we enjoyed our stay.
The room was fine it was a little tired but very clean and tidy. The towels in the bathroom were nice, white and fluffy. The curtains were good to block out the light and we could leave the window open which was good as it soon got quite warm if shut to. The room was quiet and at the back of the hotel No 33 - we booked a standard double room but we were given a family room which would sleep 3 persons. The hospitality tray was well stocked and biscuits included. With our offer we had a nice bottle of Prosecco in the ice bucket which we were able to take down with us at dinner. The food was lovely, tasty and good sized portions. The menus took a little time to read but there was something for everyone. The dining room was adequate with views over the garden. As there was a coach party due in ( 24 persons) at 7pm we decided to eat before then. After a peaceful night we got ready for breakfast, plenty of hot water for showers etc so we returned to the garden dining room and enjoyed a good choice of cereals, juices, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad. Hot cooked food was nicely presented, no cheap & nasty sausages either. The bread to toast was fine with a selection of jam, honey & marmalade. Help yourself to coffee & tea etc. We were very pleased with our stay here and we would definitely book again.
