Why We Love This Hotel

  • The hotel is perched on the Cornish cliffs, next to Polurrian Cove and its beach
  • Facilities include a cinema room, a leisure club and two swimming pools
  • Travelzoo members praise the hotel's "friendly staff", "spectacular" views and "excellent service"

Overview

Polurrian on the Lizard is set high on the Cornish cliffs, offering uninterrupted coastal views of Mount's Bay. This contemporary hotel is five minutes' walk from the sandy beach at Polurrian Cove, less than 15 minutes' drive from Lizard Point (the most southerly point on the UK mainland) and 40 minutes' drive from St Michael's Mount, which is number 39 on our list of 101 Things to do in Cornwall.

The hotel has panoramic sea views and 12 acres of mature landscaped gardens. The public areas were refurbished in 2018 and the leisure facilities -- which include a leisure club with a gym, a year-round indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool (open May-September), as well as spa treatment rooms (supplements apply) -- had a light refurbishment along with the rooms.

Children can head to the outdoor climbing frame or hunker down to watch a film in the cinema room. The hotel also offers a free baby-listening service in the evenings, so grown-ups can go for an evening meal in the hotel restaurant.

The stylish restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, with dishes that showcase the best local and seasonal produce. The rustic Mediterranean menu features many dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven. Child-friendly, gluten-free and vegan options are available.

The Vista Lounge provides a relaxing area to enjoy a tipple from the bar or a Cornish cream tea while taking in the impressive coastal views.

Deluxe Inland Facing Rooms can sleep up to two adults and two children under 12. Dogs can stay for an extra £15 each, per night (blankets and feeding bowls are provided). Wi-Fi is free.

We have also negotiated a spa day with treatments and a choice of afternoon tea or lunch for £55, saving 36% on the regular rates.

This was our second visit to Polurrian but it won’t be our last. The hotel is in a superb location with stunning views over this coastal area of Cornwall, from our room but also from the lounge area at the front of the building. Staff were efficient and very friendly. Although the deal was very good value, drinks were expensive and added a considerable amount to our bill. We preferred the menu choices at breakfast to the options at the evening meal as we’re not so keen on pizza. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

We found the place a lovely and pleasant place ideally situated to explore the Lizard. Some great coastal walks. Was really impressed with the live music on Sunday afternoon. The Food was superb.

From out visit 3 years ago, changes we noticed were in the Restaurant, and not to our liking. It was more like a Cafeteria, laminated tables, uncomfortable chairs and no table cloths.

Went 3 years ago and liked it but it is even better now. Staff were all brilliant. Room was very comfortable with everything we needed. The food was great and the new bar was also very good with a great range of local drinks and very nice cocktails. The views are lovely - whatever the weather!
