Polurrian on the Lizard is set high on the Cornish cliffs, offering uninterrupted coastal views of Mount's Bay. This contemporary hotel is five minutes' walk from the sandy beach at Polurrian Cove, less than 15 minutes' drive from Lizard Point (the most southerly point on the UK mainland) and 40 minutes' drive from St Michael's Mount, which is number 39 on our list of 101 Things to do in Cornwall.

The hotel has panoramic sea views and 12 acres of mature landscaped gardens. The public areas were refurbished in 2018 and the leisure facilities -- which include a leisure club with a gym, a year-round indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool (open May-September), as well as spa treatment rooms (supplements apply) -- had a light refurbishment along with the rooms.

Children can head to the outdoor climbing frame or hunker down to watch a film in the cinema room. The hotel also offers a free baby-listening service in the evenings, so grown-ups can go for an evening meal in the hotel restaurant.

The stylish restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, with dishes that showcase the best local and seasonal produce. The rustic Mediterranean menu features many dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven. Child-friendly, gluten-free and vegan options are available.

The Vista Lounge provides a relaxing area to enjoy a tipple from the bar or a Cornish cream tea while taking in the impressive coastal views.

Deluxe Family Rooms can sleep up to two adults and two children under 12. Dogs can stay for an extra £15 each, per night (blankets and feeding bowls are provided). Wi-Fi is free.

Great place ... couple of things that wasn’t too good. There was no robes in the room to go to the spa in the morning and there wasn’t anything provided for our dog that we paid extra for. Everything else was good and the food and service was great.

It was excellent from beginning to end. I made a mistake and didn’t check out the facilities entirely so didn’t take our swim suits.

Loved the fact they rang beforehand to check on whether feather pillows were acceptable, good call as my husband allergic to them.

Casual, but attentive young staff. Nothing too much trouble. Great, locally sourced food cooked to perfection.

Amazing views over the sea, even when it rains it's very atmospheric. Hotel is modern and very luxurious. Staff were very helpful and the food was delicious.

In general, the hotel is good. The evening menu of the restaurant could be better rather than serving lot of pizzas. The sea view is fantastic, we enjoyed watching the sunset from the bar and also walked down to the beach to catch the last glimpse of it. The room is fine with lots of coffee and tea.

The food was simple but very tasty ! It is a pleasure to be able to "taste" the food and appreciate its own natural goodness without having to filter through other masking sauces ,spices and condiments.

Hotel, grounds, staff and locality all excellent, prices a bit steep. We intended to enjoy the coastal path but the weather was so bad that didn't happen, good job we had good books.

Hope to stay again to do some walking.
