Great value stay with lovely room on the first floor in the main hotel on the island. Only negative is that the use of the pool was limited to just 7-9am on the morning and we slept in. Use till 10am would be great for the future if only on weekdays

We stayed for two nights on a Travelzoo package deal, which included breakfast and evening meal dining credit - which was excellent value for money overall.

We would try to book an upgraded room next time.
There was a good choice for the evening meals - the food being well cooked and well served.
The staff service from both Holly and Matthew was excellent, as were the reception team.
Breakfast food, when served to the table, was fine but the food on the hot buffet and the continental choice were both rather disappointing.

Parking was tight on our arrival, and there was nobody at the check in desk.
Staff were very friendly and helpful though once we were actually checking in
The room was ok, a bit out of the way in the corner with no view out of the window. It also only had a curtain between the bedroom and bath room, which unfortunately seems to be an emerging trend these days.
The bedroom and bathroom however were a decent size though did feel a little dated, considering we were housed in the newer building.
The site is beautiful, with scenic and peaceful surroundings.
The meal was ok, though interrupted by a power cut (that actually improved the lighting ambience!)
Food was nice and reasonably priced.

The entire experience was lovely. The staff were friendly and courteous, the food was very, very good and the general atmosphere in and around the hotel was restful and calm. I would definitely recommend this hotel, we are thinking of going back again.

The only issue we had, and it is a very small one, was the bedside lamps were far too dim to be able to read, and if we put the main lights on they were far too harsh and bright for winding down at the end of the day. A small point but I thought it worth adding.

Very comfortable -though room almost too hot even given frost outside! Good service at the cafe though disappointed that bar food was not available in Walton Hall itself - presumably seasonal having eaten there in the past.

Please be aware that you do not stay in the actual hall but in the extended part of the hotel which overlooks the hall -not the most clear marketing in the original deal

We were members of the leisure club for many years when we lived in the next village of Woolley. We retired back to Cumbria 10 years ago. We were very surprised at the upgrade to the newer Waterton Park building which was extremely pleasant. We stayed in the original Walton Hall, very nice indeed. Overall very happy with our stay.

Even though we were booked into a double room there was only one set of towels left and no water as expected, did advise reception on booking out but didn’t get the impression they were too bothered! This is not expected in this type of accommodation!!

Very welcoming staff. Huge warm room with great bathroom. Very high standard of cleanliness. The bottle of prosecco included in deal was already in room chilled in an ice bucket with two champagne flutes. Dinner menu had good choice of dishes and service was excellent. A really good experience, we will be back

Our welcome wasn’t great . We arrived at 2.33 to am empty reception . We waiting for 5 minutes or so before a lady arrived . Seeming surprised we were waiting for a receptionist and asked ‘can I help you ?’ We advised we had just arrived and were seeing if we could Check in. 23 were told . ‘You do know check-in isn’t until three don’t you’ . I was aware st checking was 3pm , but with less than a half hour before standard Check-in we walked in to see if our room might be ready . Seemed silly to walk past re epitome on arrival and not ask It was no surprise that we were told it wasn’t and we would ‘have to wait in the lounge and get a drink or something if we wanted,. I’m not complaining the room wasn’t ready . Genuinely felt like we had disturbed her unnecessarily . It wasn’t the welcome we were expecting a standard O problem I’ll check if you room is ready would have been. Fine .

In a beautiful setting, think the rooms in Walton Hall are a little tired. Maybe these are in line for some work as I'm told that the ones in Waterton Park have had improvement.
All the staff were welcoming and efficient. The dinner was lovely for a hotel restaurant. Breakfast was ok.
Other Comments
Think the breakfast suffered by standing too long in hot tray. The selection of food couldn't be improved.

The surroundings are fab but the weather gave us no choice than to sit indoors. the view from the room was nice.

we expected a nice dressy up experience and did not expect the dining facility to resemble a motorway cafe! Therefore our posh frocks and suits were wasted. On top of this the food was over priced and not great, main course consisted of one chicken breast (ala Tesco) and one potato! Tiramisu pud did not look home made more like one from a four pack at Aldi. Drink prices were just stupid with a pint costing £7.60 and a bottle of Budweiser £6.80. The service in the bar was dreadful, I waited fifteen minutes at the bar to be served only for the girl to serve two ladies who just arrived and asked for coffee first (which took another 5 mins) In fairness the girl was left completely on her own to do the bar, the coffees, the cleaning and everything else. Then the bar shut at 9pm with the announcement that we could go across the bridge to the cafe if we wanted another. As the weather was horrendous, rain and wind we went to bed. The bed was not very comfortable.
