Why We Love This Hotel

Roomzzz York City is peacefully situated just outside the encircling Medieval walls by the River Ouse.
Smart Studios have an in-room kitchenette, sofa, and workspace. The kitchenette features a hob, microwave/grill, fridge, and dishwasher.
There's a coffee shop and a pantry selling essentials. The property also has a gym.
Clifford's Tower—the largest surviving part of York Castle—is a 10-minute walk away. At the tower’s top is a 360-degree viewing platform over the city.
The Shambles is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Its overhanging timber-framed buildings house quirky shops and cafes. Jorvik Viking Centre is close to The Shambles, where you can learn about the once Viking capital of England.

Good room, plenty of facilities. Around 15 minutes from the train station but parking at hotel if required. Would recommend and would book again.

We stayed in a smart studio with a riverside view. The studio was a good size, clean and had everything you needed. The location was perfect, 10/15 minutes walk into the centre of York. We would definitely stay again.

There were 2 members of staff on reception, one of them was very helpful and the other seemed quite rude and not the type of person I would put in a customer service position.

Great place to stay in York, ideal for the Barbican and town centre, both only a 15 minute walk away. Lovely location by the river. We had a studio with balcony and were very impressed with it, everything you need, comfy bed and pillows, immaculately clean and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

The room was for two persons and had a kitchenette, but had only one chair that could be used when sitting to eat any food that had been prepared.

Room itself was quite nicely presented, you had a fridge and a microwave, and kettle, induction hob, dishwasher and some cutlery and glasses. Didnt use anything but the kettle and fridge, they worked ok. The croissant in the morning was quite nice, and the downstairs reception area looked quite nice, the outside seating area looked nice, and the location is nice and pleasant around the hotel with the trees and river just opposite, though I dont feel bad for not paying more for the room with a river view, as you wouldnt have seen it for the trees directly in front of the hotel)

When we arrived at the hotel, the staff could not confirm if we had already paid for the room or not. They werent really helpful or friendly at all, just indifferent really. I tried to check my phone for any booking details from Travelzoo but that was not much help, and I had to try and search through all of my bank apps (which took ages) to see if I can see the a transaction for it, but could not. So in the end I paid for the room and got my key, and went upto our room (after about 20 mins of messing as above) and then the key did not work to open the door. I went back down to sort that out and was greeted again by the same indifferent receptionist. When asked if I wanted 2 keys, I said I would like 2 please yes, but was only given 1. At least when I went back up this one did work this time. The corridor up there smelled a bit, fusty or something, couldnt quite place the smell. The TV didnt work at all, no terrestrial channels (or anything else). Tried to get something up on it but just got a black screen or a Menu to connect a chrome cast, that was it. Tried to have a shower Mon morning, but there was no hot water at all. None. Bed was quite thin and not amazingly comfy, but was acceptable, aircon seemed to have a mind of its own and turned itself off. We didnt park at the hotel, as we feared not getting a space as it said limited spaces - I did hear a women at reception saying to the reception that she couldnt get a space, so what could she do, so looks like we made the right call to park elsewhere rather than chance it. The coffee out of the coffe machine in reception was awful too.
