Dating back to 1794, the property was originally called the Uxbridge Arms hotel. It became the Royal Hotel after Princess Victoria's visit in 1832. Guglielmo Marconi stayed here while working on the wireless transmitting station nearby.
The spa and gym are newly refurbished. Wellness facilities include a swimming pool, a bubble pool, and a sauna and steam room.
Caernarfon sits between the Menai Strait and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. It is a great base to explore Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the Llŷn, and Anglesey.
The "magnificent" (Lonely Planet) Caernarfon Castle is less than 10 minutes' walk from the hotel. It is where King Charles was appointed the Prince of Wales in 1969.

The hotel is very smart and the Team are exceptional. Everyone we came across were polite and helpful. The TZ deal was very much worth the money. We also paid for a room upgrade as it was my husbands birthday. That room was a little disappointing as it was a low level, very hot and no view. The evening meal was fantastic, breakfast and the cream tea too. Great central location and easy to get about.

A good offer at a reasonable hotel. Good evening meal with interesting choices, well presented and well cooked. Breakfasts were average but self-service and not very interesting. Slow reception desk with variable efficiency. Restaurant staff adequate but few smiles. Room quite spacious and had all the usual amenities and good ensuite bathroom. Bed quite uncomfortable though. Parking was handy and the hotel was in a useful position for the town and castle (though not in an attractive setting opposite Asda and Home Improvements stores). However we had a reasonable stay and enjoyed glorious weather.

My partner and I were stopping at the Celtic Royal for two nights, upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who provided us with information about the hotel. They answered any questions we had while also passing on details of things that might have been helpful for us. The room was clean with decent facilities, the hotel had a nice atmosphere. We were on a bed and breakfast package, the restaurant was a nice pleasant environment with friendly helpful staff, the food was good with a few different choices. We both used the pool facilities every day, this facility was a welcome place as the weather was warm. The breakfasts were good with good stocks of all items. We really enjoyed our stay at the Celtic Royal, we both agreed that we would be happy to stay there again. My only area for improvement would have been for the room to have air conditioning.

Nice decor, clean rooms, lovely library / sitting room areas. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The deal we got with breakfast, cream tea, and dinner was such good value for money. Super impressed. We will come again and recommend to others. They even did me a vegan cream scone! The spa was very clean and had everything you needed to exercise and rejuvenate. Super impressed. We will come again and recommend to others.

We really enjoyed our visit and managed to see a lot of the area, but it's a very long way from home in East Anglia so we'll probably choose somewhere closer for our next trip

Breakfast selection was poor( no healthy options ) eg ‘meat and cheese selection’ consisted of only salami for both days. No bananas, prunes, oranges, nuts, seeds, sugar free musili.
Hard to negotiate the numerous steps with suitcase.
Cream tea offered, unclear in offer as thought it was afternoon tea ( cream tea does not appear on website or menu )
