Why We Love This Hotel
- The property comprises three elegant townhouses. One of them was once the home of local author Sybil Marshall and inspired the hotel's name.
- The Poets House is located 100 yards from Ely Cathedral across a triangular green. The Daily Telegraph says the property "could not be more perfectly positioned".
- Every room features a king-size bed, a rainfall shower, and fluffy bathrobes. Each also has a William Holland copper bathtub, either in the bathroom or the bedroom.
- Dining options include the Dining Room and the Sonnet Bar and Lounge for lighter options. There's also a pretty Courtyard Garden.
- Ely is renowned for its Medieval cathedral, which features both Norman and Gothic architecture. Don't miss its rare and impressive octagonal lantern tower. The cathedral is known as "the Ship of the fens" for its prominent hillside position.
- You can also visit Oliver Cromwell's House across the road from the hotel. The Lord Protector lived there with his family for 10 years from 1636. It features exhibitions about the English Civil War and Cromwell's life and times.
