Why We Love This Deal

Parts of The Olde Bell date back to the 1130s when it welcomed visitors to the nearby Benedictine Priory. A sanctus bell, that signalled to the monks that an important visitor had arrived, still hangs over the door. Overnight stays are £85 for Travelzoo members, saving 47–50% on the direct price.

Why We Love This Hotel

  • The Olde Bell first opened its doors in 1135. This makes it possibly the oldest inn in England, and among the oldest in the world. Over the years it has hosted Winston Churchill, Dwight D Eisenhower, Elizabeth Taylor, and Cary Grant.
  • The restaurant serves dishes made with produce grown in the inn's own kitchen garden.
  • Superior rooms are in the historic inn building or in the Malt House. Deluxe rooms are larger and are set within the Brick Barn. Luxury rooms are in the Main Inn or Malt House and each have a claw-foot bath tub.
  • The property is in the picturesque village of Hurley, close to the River Thames. "There isn't a prettier village on this graceful stretch of the Thames," says The Times.
  • Marlow is a charming town known for high-end restaurants and celebrity residents. It is an hour's walk away, most of it along the river.

Other Comments
The only comment we have is, lack of choice in breakfast cereals.

Check in was very easy and we were given a delightful room in the old pub. Room was spotlessly clean and very quiet with tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided. We stayed on a hot day and the unexpected bonus of air conditioning was wonderful! Very unexpected in such an ancient building.

The village of Hurley is beautiful. So quiet and peaceful. A great village shop and cafe. Wonderful river Thames walks to Marlow and Henley

The hotel is a beautiful building and in a lovely location. The things that let it down are the general cleanliness and the food. The cooked breakfast was inedible and the dinner wasn't great either.
Other Comments
Nice hotel, terrible food and needs a good clean generally.

The Hotel and staff are lovely. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Room was perfectly fine for a two night stay. Breakfast was just ‘ok’ and a bit of a wait for some of the hot food but didn’t spoil our stay. The location is perfect and a very short walk to the river. We will definitely go back!
