"We had booked two nights on the Travelzoo deal which included vouchers to be used in the hotel Bistro 23 for dinner. We were greeted so well when we arrived and given a truly warm feeling. Our room was well appointed and equipped. The only downside was that work was ongoing opposite our room to create what looks like extra accomodation. The staff in the bar and restaurant continued the excellent service when we went to dinner. The food was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and the young lady looking after us, Annie, was incredibly friendly and helpful. Such a lovely ambience to start the day."
The Ormond at Tetbury is a former coaching innthat dates from the late 1600s. The property is in the centre of the village—browse its antique stores and vintage boutiques. This "perfect, fudge-coloured town" (The Guardian) makes a great base when exploring the Cotswolds.
Bistro 23, the hotel's cosy restaurant, opened in February, 2025. It serves seasonal, locally sourced food with a contemporary twist.
Rooms are individually decorated in a contemporary style. Some have traditional oak-beamed ceilings and 4-poster beds.
The Victorian-era Westonbirt Arboretum is a great location for a nature-filled walk. The arboretum is 10 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Further afield are Castle Combe and the city of Bath. The former was a filming location for 1967's "Doctor Dolittle" and 2010's "War Horse". The latter is famed for its Georgian architecture and Jane Austen connections. Both can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes.

The Ormond is an old quirky hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful . Food was good and plentiful. Courtyard bedrooms are compromised in terms of privacy. Parking is very difficult, as there is none!! These last two comments are the reason I wouldn't return or recommend it .

Situation in Tetbury was nice. Staff were very pleasant. Food was excellent. We were a little disappointed with the size of the room as we had upgraded to a superior room. We asked the staff whether it actually was a superior room as it looked nothing like the superior rooms on the website and they confirmed it was. I am still not convinced .We informed them of our disappointment and they gave us a free bottle of wine with dinner. The other issue is the parking although you can park on the street between 8 am and 6 pm it’s a maximum stay of one hour. If you wish to stay longer you have to go to the pay car park or the long stay which is free and is about 10 minutes away.

My husband and I had a wonderful overnight stay. It was a perfect location for our visit to Highgrove. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We left our bags as we arrived too early for checkin so the room wasn’t ready. When we returned at teatime the luggage had been delivered to our room ready for us. Breakfast was good with plenty of options such as yogurt, fruit, cereals and toast plus a full cooked English. We would definitely go back and I will be recommending the hotel to my friends and family.

The superior rooms are of a very high standard and the beds are extremely comfortable. The only negative is about the hot breakfast where every item on the plate was dried up and over cooked on both mornings, I was disappointed not to be able to have poached eggs as the chef does not like to do them. Thankfully the continental breakfast was very nice with lots of choice.

She was running around providing every customer with their needs , with a never wavering smile!

The hotel was centrally sited in Tetbury.
The staff were exceptionally kind and considerate.
The beds were very comfortable and the room was perfectly adequate.
A bit of a downside was the parking, but we managed with a bit of juggling. Guess it's the payoff for a central position.
Breakfast was serve yourself buffet with cereals etc followed by cooked options. No arguments there.

First morning - at breakfast there were No saucers for the cups. Only one choice for eggs-scrambled. The wooden spoons for cereal are not ideal please change. A few more rashes of bacon would be nice too
Lunch time - one member of staff didn’t know what soup was available. First rule of providing food KNOW what is on the menu for that day! Dusting of the rooms and eating areas needs to be done - it’s important to note when customers are sitting at a certain level whether in the bar or in the room dust can be seen which makes me think is cleaning a priority - it should be at all times! Room 19 is up a steep winding staircase and although we have no mobility problems perhaps it should checked at point of booking. Overall value for money!

We had a very pleasant stay at The Ormond. Our room was simple but comfortable..and very clean. The hotel is right in the middle of Tetbury but also surrounded by beautiful countryside and walks. The hotel 'pub' has a good atmosphere and although we didn't eat in the restaurant it looked as though it would have a good ambience. There is no hotel lounge for residents although there are a couple of sofas in reception. The outside garden area is very pretty. Finally the staff, without exception, were helpful and friendly so it would be unfair to single out any one or two for praise. I would certainly stay at the Ormond again for a short stay.

My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at The Ormond. The staff were very friendly and helpful from Jennifer when we arrived who managed to get us a table for dinner and thoughtfully seated us in the bar area 'rather than on the end f a long table' to Kelly who is an amazing asset to your staff. Her tales has us in stitches from providing woodwork classes later on, cooking the eggs, washing up etc. a very vivid imagination and sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Our meal in the restaurant was well cooked and so much of it! Good choice of food at breakfast time.
Other Comments
As others have said parking was a little bit of an issue. I moved the car on our first morning to the short stay car park round the corner then later moved it to the long stay car park where I left it over night. Kelly had told us about a shorter route to come back up from the long stay car park. The only thing that might be nice to have would be a bottle of water in the room even if this was tap water.

We really enjoyed our time at The Ormond. We visited with our dog, and everyone at the hotel could not be helpful. In particular, Matt was very helpful upon arrival, and was professional, friendly and efficient throughout our stay.
Other Comments
The hotel is on the main road in Tetbury, and whilst the road is busy during the day, at nighttime it is fairly quiet.
There is no parking on site, which is noted in the description, however, there are car parks nearby which is manageable. As the hotel website states, drop off luggage upon arrival (there are bays which allow 1 hour waiting), and then park the car elsewhere.
The food in Bistro 23 is very good and reasonably priced.
The hotel is ideally located for sightseeing nearby, and Tetbury is a lovely town to walk around.
In all, we would highly recommend The Ormond at Tetbury for a lovely stay in the Cotswolds.

We booked having seen it advertised via Travelzoo as we wanted to meet up with some of our friends from 'up North' and suggested they book as well, which they did. The hotel is located in the middle of Tetbury so ideal for walking around the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful so all an all we had a good time over the 2 nights.
However there were a few things which we were a little disappointed with namely:
1. We stayed in Bedroom 3 and the bottom sheet on the Double bed was too small for the size of bed so when ever you turned over the sheet would roll-up under you which was uncomfortable ie needed a bigger sized bottom sheet. It was annoying so on the 2nd night I got out of the double bed and got into the single bed as the sheet fitted it much better.
2. I would much rather 'tip' what and where i see fit. It wasn't until we paid our bar/reastaurant bill after the 2nd night that we saw that a 12.5% charge had been added to the bill. I'm not saying i wouldn't have given the staff a tipo but i would prefer to choose what tip/amount to give rather than have it forced upon me.
3.Re Point 2 not knowing that it included a 12.5% Service Charge we gave £20 tip to the staff + the 12.5% Service Charge. No wonder the staff really liked us !!
4. We thought the charge for a splash of coke (with a spirit) @£1.60 and a few green beans @ £4.60 to be somewhat excessive.
All in all we had an enjoyable long weekend at The Ormand but just a fw things we felt let it down.

As the hotel has no car park, and there are yellow lines outside, it is best to drop off suitcases and then find parking space. There is a free car park approx 10 to 15 minute walk away bt the old station, but is an uphill walk that is why I suggest you drop off cases first.
