Overview

Lifton Hall Hotel is housed in three ivy-clad 17th-century cottages with colourful window boxes. The hotel is a few minutes' drive from the Devon-Cornwall border and is in easy reach of the pretty countryside in both counties. It's 10 minutes' drive from Launceston, Cornwall's ancient capital, known for its Norman castle, steam railway and independent shops, and a 20-minute drive from the market town of Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding National Beauty, which is dotted with picturesque villages and known for its mining heritage, is around 15 minutes' drive away. Padstow, with its lively port and noted fish restaurants, is around an hour's drive from the hotel.

One of Lifton Hall Hotel's highlights is its locally sourced food. You can choose to eat in the restaurant, which features rich fabrics and Gothic windows, or in the casual, rustic-style bar area, which has wood-beamed ceilings and a fireplace. There is also an outside patio with tables and chairs.

The hotel's 10 bedrooms are individually decorated in a cosy, country style. All rooms have free Wi-Fi and tea- and coffee-making facilities, as well as views of the village or the countryside. Some rooms have features such as wood-panelled walls and 4-poster beds.

The evening meals were good quality, but breakfast was very poor. The selection of food was minimal and of mixed quality, only given one choice of read, sourdough. You can always tell the quality of a hotel by its breakfast and this was left wanting

Nice room with lovely comfortable bed and seatee.

Would of been nice to have some fresh fruit as an extra choice for breakfast . Also would prefer whole meal toast instead of toasted soda bread. Found it rather hard.
