Itinerary
Tailor Made Rail provides a suggested itinerary in each destination. You're free to do your own thing at your own pace. Just make sure to reach each hotel in time to check in for the evening.

  • Day one... catch the Eurostar to Munich, then spend the night a short walk from the station. We recommend popping to a beer hall for a Weissbeer in a traditional stone Krug. It's a real experience—some halls seat over a thousand people.
  • Day two to four... ride through the Italian Alps then spend three nights at Carnival Palace, a 4-star hotel in Venice. It's around 10 minutes' walk from the station, or a 10-minute ferry journey. November's a lovely time to visit Venice—the autumn fog turns the city into a Renaissance painting.
  • Day five... take the train from Venice to Lyon. You'll have an evening in France's foodie capital. We recommend booking one of the city's famous restaurants in advance. Try fresh oysters, charcuterie, sausage baked in brioche, and more. Travel home the next day.
