Hotel details
Longueville Manor is a 5-star Relais and Chateaux property in a private valley near St Helier.

It stands out because it remains a family-run establishment. The grandparents of the current owners bought the 14th-century manor house 75 years ago, and turned it into the luxurious hotel it is today.

The manor itself is a grand affair, with mullioned windows, family heirlooms, and a 14th-century watch tower. But the cosy, warm atmosphere is the real highlight. The Standard calls it an "make-yourself-at-home country manor", with loyal guests that return for decades, even among islanders.

The hotel received a Michelin Key last autumn. It has held 5 AA Red Stars for 17 consecutive years—an accolade that needs to be earnt annually. Just 62 hotels across Britain have received 5 AA Red Stars. Much of the hyper-local produce is grown in the kitchen garden. The on-site bee hives produce the honey served at breakfast. The Head Chef, Andrew Beard, even dives for his own scallops when he has the time.

October to March is a lovely time to visit Jersey. The island is especially peaceful when other tourists depart. Crisp coastal walks are made even better by crackling fires in cosy pubs. And it's prime season for seafood like oysters, clams, and cockles. The Island's Delicious Dine-out festival also runs throughout October and November.
