Hotel details
Longueville Manor is "Jersey's finest hotel", says the Daily Telegraph. The historic country estate is set in a private valley near St Helier.

The manor house dates from the 1300s, and has roaring log fires and a sprawling rose garden. The restaurant is a highlight—it has three AA Rosettes and is recommended in the Michelin Guide. There's the grand, wood-panelled Oak Room, and the airy Garden Room. The kitchen prides itself on its hyper-local products, often fresh from the hotel's Victorian-era garden. The on-site bee hives produce the honey served at breakfast.

St Helier is around 10 minutes away in a car. Winter is a great time to go exploring the wider island—think coastal walks followed by pints by a crackling fire. The best seafood is in season, including oysters, clams, and cockles. If you travel in November, you'll catch Tennerfest, the island's biggest food festival.
