£299pp—Half-price Tuscan castle week for 4

Gather three of your friends—groups of four can stay at a Medieval Tuscan castle from £299 per person. Or, it's only £50 more based on two people travelling. This deal is £287 per person. A tourism tax of €2 per person, per night (approximately £12) is payable at the hotel, taking the total to £299 per person.

Hotel details
Castello di Montegufoni is in the heart of Tuscany. Soft light filters through the turrets at sunrise, and evenings stretch with long, lazy meals under the cypress trees. The castle's exact origin is unknown, but it's likely to be between the 10th and 11th centuries. It still retains a blend of Medieval and Renaissance style. A highlight is "the room of masks"—an entirely frescoed room from the 1920s. 

Apartments are self-catered, with a gas stove and a fridge. You can also dine at the hotel restaurant, which offers traditional Tuscan food and wines. Enjoy a tipple or a coffee at the bar (April–October only), with views over the rolling hills. Wi-Fi is free.

Florence is a 45-minute drive, and Pisa, Siena, and Lucca are around an hour away. We recommend visiting Volterra, too. It's off the beaten path and beautifully preserved.
