Described by Condé Nast Traveller as "contemporary and sexy", The Marker San Francisco is right in the heart of the city. This iconic Union Square hotel features French-inspired architecture and has a spacious lobby, a lively Italian restaurant, and colourfully decorated rooms. 

From Union Square, you'll have your pick of things to do. Ride the cable car up to Fisherman's Wharf to sample some of the city's best seafood, and then spot sea lions lazing along the pier. You can also take the ferry to the infamous Alcatraz for a thrilling tour.

No trip to San Francisco is complete without visiting the Golden Gate Bridge—we recommend renting a bike and cycling through Golden Gate Park. Music afficionados will love the Haight-Ashbury district, the epicentre of 1967's "Summer of Love". Be sure to check out the area's vintage fashion boutiques, record stores, and trendy cafes. 

Next, fly to Las Vegas, where you'll stay at the "sophisticated" (The Daily Telegraph) The Signature at MGM Grand. Part of the MGM Resorts brand, this apartment-style hotel provides a reprieve from Las Vegas's hectic nightlife, but you'll have access to all the gambling, dining, and entertainment facilities at the MGM Grand, 10 minutes' walk away. 

There's more to Vegas than the casinos though—be mesmerised by the Bellagio’s dancing fountains, book tickets for one of the many residencies, and take a ride on the High Roller Observation Wheel for spectacular skyline views. 

Las Vegas is surrounded by magnificent mountains and canyons—discover them with a tour of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area or the astounding Grand Canyon, one of the seven wonders of the world.
