Itinerary highlights
- San Jose... head off on a coffee tour to follow the lifecycle of gourmet coffee. Start in the nursery to learn about the growing cycle of beans, then learn about different roasting techniques. Finally, uncover the professionals' techniques for identifying unique coffee characteristics.
- Tortuguero... this is one of Costa Rica's most famous conservation areas. Take a boat tour of the canals and lagoons surrounding your lodge. You'll be guided by an expert, who will point out local wildlife and flowers. The next morning, join a mid-morning rainforest walk. There's also a visit to the village, where just 500 people live.
- Arenal... transfer by boat and coach to a restaurant in Guapiles for lunch, then continue to La Fortuna. This is home to the gigantic Arenal Volcano. Explore the region's natural beauty with a guided hike along El Silencio Trail in the volcano's foothills. You'll see towering trees, volcanic rock formations, and everything from frogs to monkeys.
- Monteverde... take a pontoon boat ride to Rio Chiquito. From there, continue by coach to the Monteverde area. Explore Monteverde's famous cloud forest at Selvatura Adventure Park. Wander along its suspension bridges and take photo stops on its platforms.
- Manuel Antonio... spend three nights right by Costa Rica's smallest national park. Your hotel is under five minutes drive away. It's also 10 minutes drive from Manuel Antonio Beach, known for its pristine sands and frolicking monkeys.
