Itinerary
Your adventure begins in Kathmandu. You'll get a free afternoon to recharge before an early scenic flight over Mount Everest and the towering Himalayan range.
Next, explore the UNESCO-listed Durbar Square and the Buddhist stupas of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. The latter is one of the largest in the world. Then, ascend to the forested hilltop of Swayambhunath Stupa, known as the Monkey Temple. The day concludes at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest and most sacred Tibetan Buddhist monuments in the world.
On day four, travel to the remarkable Chitwan National Park. Wind through lush river valleys on your way to Nepal's dense jungle. Wild rhinos, Bengal tigers, leopards, deer, and more call this national park home. Visit an indigenous village, go canoeing, and take a nature walk and a jeep safari. Spend two nights at a wilderness lodge, nestled at the edge of Chitwan's jungle.
Next, travel through Nepal's ever-changing landscapes onto Pokhara overlooking the emerald-hued Lake Phewa. Barter at the Old Bazaar and visit the Gurkha Museum. Admire views of the Himalayas from Bindabasini Temple, then visit Devi's Fall and Gupteshwor Cave. Finally, watch a rose-tinted sunset over the lake.
As you travel back to Kathmandu on day eight, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. The following morning, take the short flight to Paro. Admire aerial views of Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga during a flight over the Himalayas. Then, drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Take a trip to a Buddhist nunnery, a traditional art school, and the National Textile Museum. Spot Bhutan's national animal—the takin—at a nature reserve. Hike through the forest to Changangkha Temple.
After two nights, travel to Punakha in the Punakha Valley. Pass along the Dochu La Pass, one of Bhutan's most breathtaking mountain passes. Marvel at views of the Eastern Himalayas, then visit the 15th-century Chimi Lhakhang temple. This temple is only accessible by walking through paddy fields. You'll also explore Punakha Dzong, one of the country's most impressive buildings.
On day 12, head to Paro surrounded by forested mountain peaks and rice paddies. Tour the National Museum and the Rinpung Dzong fortress. Wander through its charming streets lined with traditional Bhutanese architecture, boutique shops, and cafés. Continue towards the Paro Bridge for unforgettable views of the Rinpung Dzong. You'll also hike 2-3 hours to visit the clifftop Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery).
You'll then travel back to Paro for a flight to Kathmandu for one final night before you head home.
