Itinerary

  • Negombo... fly into Colombo, then transfer here for an overnight stay.
  • Anuradhapura... go on a sightseeing tour of the city, including the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple.
  • Jaffna... visit Point Pedro, the northernmost point of Sri Lanka. Plus, see Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, one of the country's most important Hindu temples. Head to the coastal area of Keerimalai and cross the causeway to the golden beaches of Karainagar Island. Visit Elephant Pass, and learn about how this played a key role during Sri Lanka’s civil conflict.
  • Dambulla... explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Sigiriya Museum, then head to Hiriwadunna Village for a traditional village experience and lunch. This may include activities such as a village walk, an ox-cart ride, a boat ride, and an opportunity to learn about local lifestyles and rural traditions.
  • Nuwara Eliya... visit a local tea plantation, and go on a sightseeing tour of the area. This includes Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, the historic Post Office, Victoria Park, Lake Gregory, Sita Amman Temple, and the Hakgala Botanical Gardens. Then, ride the heritage blue train that you see on all the postcards as you make your way to Ella.
  • Ella... take in the rushing Udawadiya Waterfall, then have a traditional Sri Lankan lunch. This is either hosted by a local family, or a community-based tourism initiative.
  • Yala... go on a jeep safari in Yala National Park. Spot the dazzling array of wildlife including elephants, spotted deer, wild boar, crocodiles, water buffalo, and perhaps the elusive leopard.
  • Bentota... stop in at the Galle Dutch Fort and learn about the site's history before continuing on to Bentota. Finish off the trip with three nights at a 4-star resort that's right on the beach.
