Itinerary
After flying into San Jose, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The next morning, stop for a traditional breakfast en route to Tortuguero National Park. You'll arrive at your lodge by boat along the main canal. In the afternoon, go on a guided tour of the local village.
The next day, you'll take a full tour of the park, as well as a boat ride along the meandering canals. If you travel in September, you could opt for a night walk. See the nesting of the green turtles (additional charge).
After leaving Tortuguero, stop at a local restaurant for lunch en route to Arenal. Tick off a guided tour of Arenal Volcano National Park. It's known for its hot springs, tree frogs, and of course, the active volcano. Optional activities include a tour of La Fortuna waterfall, horseback riding, and a sloth tour.
Next stop is Monteverde, where you'll walk along the hanging bridges of the cloud forest. After three nights here, continue on to the beach resort of Carrillo. Spend another three nights here to relax on the pristine, sandy beaches. Then head back to San Jose for one final night before your flight home.
