Itinerary
The adventure begins in Bangalore (also known as Bengaluru). You'll have one night in India's tech capital and garden city before heading to Mysore. On the way, visit a beautiful vineyard in Channapatna, and taste local wines before you reach the royal city. The next morning, visit the magnificent Mysore Palace and the Chamundeswari Temple, as well as St Philomena's Church.
It's then onto Ooty. On the way, you'll visit the serene Ranganathittu bird sanctuary, home to a wide variety of birdlife. Spot white ibis, darters, open-billed storks, kingfishers, and more. You'll enter Ooty through Bandipur National Park, and cross into the adjoining Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary. Go on a thrilling afternoon jeep safari along the river banks and forests with an expert guide.
The next day, you'll get a full-day tour of Ooty. Visit the botanical gardens, a working tea factory, and the old-world cottages of Lovedale. In the afternoon, you'll embark the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Rattle through winding tea plantations and hills interspersed with waterfalls before arriving in Coonoor. After some lunch, you'll explore the tea estates.
Continue onto the Western Ghats, where you'll spend the next couple of nights in the lush, green region of Wayanad. Visit the Needle Rock View Point and the Wayanad wildlife sanctuary, home to elephant herds and a rich chorus of birdlife. On arrival at the hotel, you'll have the next day free to explore at your own pace.
The cosmopolitan harbour city of Kochi is the next stop. Head off on a city tour to immerse yourself in the sights. Begin with the gigantic Chinese fishing nets, then continue on to St Francis' Chhurch, considered India's oldest church. Finish off the tour with the Jewish synagogue and the Dutch Palace.
After breakfast in Kochi, depart for Alleppey. You'll spend the night here on a traditional Keralan houseboat as you float along the backwaters. Take in emerald paddy fields, artisans weaving coir, and ancient temples from the deck. Your onboard chef will prepare three meals for you during the cruise, showcasing local flavours.
Finish off the trip with three nights by the beach in Kovalam. You'll stay at a 5-star hotel that's a quick stroll down to the Arabian Sea. Unwind in the spa, grab cocktails under the stars, or simply relax under swaying palms with a good book.
