Itinerary
Upon arrival, you'll be transferred from the airport to the hotel in Colombo. The next day, head off on a sightseeing tour of the city. Explore the historic Fort District, the impressive Gangaramaya Temple, the elegant Cinnamon Gardens, and more. After a day of sightseeing, travel to Udawalawe and check into the safari lodge.
It's an early start the next morning as you head off on your first game drive in Udawalawe National Park. You might spot elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, wild boar, over 200 species of birds, and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. In the evening, go on a nature walk along the Udawalawe Reservoir Dam.
The next day, visit the Elephant Transit Home, a rehabilitation centre dedicated to caring for orphaned elephants. In the afternoon, travel to Tissamaharama via the sacred town of Kataragama. You'll experience an authentic Pooja ceremony here—think colourful rituals, chanting, incense, and traditional drumming.
Head into Yala National Park the following afternoon. You'll go for your second game drive here—another chance to spot some leopards. The next day, journey along Sri Lanka's beautiful southern coast, stopping at a tea estate. Tour the plantation, visit the factory, and sample more than 20 varieties of tea on a guided tasting. It's then onto the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort for a guided walk through its cobbled streets.
The holiday finishes by the shores of the Indian Ocean, in Waskadusa. All your meals and drinks are included, and on the final night, you'll get a special candelit dinner to round off the trip in style. If two nights isn't enough, you can extend your beach stay for a supplement (prices below).
