Itinerary
Take in views over the Old Quarter of Hanoi from your hotel's rooftop bar, or wander through the lively streets at your leisure. You'll get a guided city tour visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the 11th-century One Pillar Pagoda. Then, go on a street food tour tasting local specialities like pho (noodle soup), bun cha (grilled pork and noodles), bánh mì (a baguette filled with savoury ingredients), and egg coffee.

Admire riverine landscapes on a daytrip to Ninh Binh province. See towering limestone cliffs rising from rice paddies on a boat excursion from Tam Coc. You'll also stop at the tranquil cave temple at Bich Dong Pagoda, and stroll through the ruins of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.

Next, you'll embark on an overnight cruise through Halong Bay. Float to lush green islands and hidden grottoes. You can go kayaking, and see a cooking demonstration before settling down for dinner around sunset.

Fly to Hue, the former imperial city of the Nguyen Dynasty. Discover the Royal Citadel, home to grand palaces and temples. Visit the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc before taking a boat trip on the Pearl River to the 17th-century Thien Mu Pagoda.

Gaze out the window of your train as you travel through the mountainous Hai Van Pass along the coast. You'll arrive in Da Nang, then continue to Hoi An for a guided walk among centuries-old merchant houses, silk shops, and colourful riverside markets. While in town, you'll also take an excursion to the surrounding countryside. There, you'll get a basket boat trip through a coconut forest, visit a farm to participate in a hands-on cooking class, and learn the tricks of lantern-making at a workshop.

Continue with a domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Embark on a trip through the Mekong Delta. A traditional sampan boat will get you to islands in the mighty river. There, you'll visit orchards to taste a variety of tropical fruits, and stop at a honey farm and a candy workshop. A leisurely bike trip around the quaint village of Tan Thach will cap up the day's adventures.
