Itinerary highlights

• Ho Chi Minh City… explore the islands in the Mekong Delta with a traditional sampan boat. Taste tropical fruits at an orchard, and stop at a honey farm and a candy workshop. Then, glimpse into the local way of life in Tan Thach village.
• Hoi An… take a walk among centuries-old merchant houses, silk shops, and colourful riverside markets. Go on a basket boat trip through a coconut forest, visit a farm for a hands-on cooking class, and learn the tricks of lantern-making.
• Da Nang… admire the views from the Marble Mountains. Then, visit the Huyen Khong cave, where shafts of light pierce the dark cavern through a semi-open ceiling. Walk on the Golden Bridge before you hop on the Ba Na Hills cable car that glides above forests and waterfalls. You'll stay at a beachside hotel in Da Nang.
• Hue… travel by train through the mountainous Hai Van Pass. Visit the Royal Citadel, home to grand palaces and temples, and the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. Then, go on a boat on the Perfume River to the 17th-century Thien Mu Pagoda.
• Hanoi… stay near the Hoan Kiem Lake, and the Old and French Quarters. See limestone cliffs rising from rice paddies on a boat excursion from Tam Coc. Stop at the tranquil cave temple at Bich Dong Pagoda, and stroll through the ruins of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.
• Halong Bay… float to lush green islands and hidden grottoes. You can go kayaking, and see a cooking demonstration before settling down for dinner around sunset.

On your return to Hanoi, you'll get a guided city tour visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the 11th-century Temple of Literature. Then, go on a street food tour tasting local specialities like pho (noodle soup), bun cha (grilled pork and noodles), bánh mì (a baguette filled with savoury ingredients), and egg coffee.
