About the show
"The Sound of Music" follows Maria, a new (and seen by some as a problem) nun in 1920s' Austria. After failing to fit in with convent life, she is sent to become the governess for the strict Captain von Trapp and his seven children. Through song and her kind-hearted nature, Maria earns the children's trust. Her warmth gradually breaks through the Captain's hard exterior, leading to a story of love, humour, courage, and standing together in the face of adversity.
The revived version of the musical features all the classic songs from the beloved movie. You'll hear "Do-Re-Mi", "My Favourite Things", "Edelweiss", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", and more. The Leeds shows are brought to life by a 40-piece orchestra and the Chorus of Opera North.
