About the show
"Kinky Boots" is a multi-award-winning musical featuring "stratospheric levels of charisma" (The Guardian). Its previous accolades include six Tony Awards (notably Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Choreography), a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, and the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. It features songs by Grammy and Tony Award-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper that "will leave you walking away with a huge smile", according to the Daily Mirror.
Inspired by true events, the story was brought to life on the big screen in 2005, with Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor as the dazzling Lola, before being transformed into a hit Broadway musical, and a book by Broadway legend and 4-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein ("La Cage Aux Folles").
This striking new revival proudly proves that sometimes the best way to fit in is to stand out, and sees direction and choreography by Leah Hill ("Thriller Live", "West End Story"). It tells the story of Charlie Price (Matt Cardle), who is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family business. With their shoe factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely form of performer Lola (Johannes Radebe).
About the restaurant
Browns Covent Garden takes traditional British flavours and introduces seasonal inspired twists into its dishes. You can choose two courses from the set menu. We like the sound of the sticky hot honey chicken followed by pan-fried seabass. Or if you prefer dessert, try the apple and rhubarb crumble with ginger ice cream.
