We had a really great time at Gusbourne, Nicola from Travelzoo welcomed us on arrival, a delicious welcome glass of fizz , a tour of the vineyard with friendly, informative staff from Gusbourne, another glass during the tour and then tasting of several more served with a platter of local sourced lunch snacks which was excellent. The vineyard is in a beautiful location in the Kent/Sussex borders . All the staff were great and we are even bigger fans of Gusbourne now.

We used the recommended taxi firm, EWM for the journey from Ashford station and they were excellent, easy and efficient booking process, professional drivers and they take cash or card payment on board.

The welcome by the Travelzoo representative was very good.
The estate is impressive and the selection of wines on offer to taste was varied.
The platter served after the tour was very good.
We were rather disappointed by the tour. The guide didn’t really keep the group together and it was often difficult to hear what was being said. I don’t think we really got a clear picture of how the estate operates or the finer details of the wine production.
Considering the Gusbourne wines have a reputation for being a prestige product, I’m not sure the event really reflected this. We have done other tours of local vineyards and felt that these were better.

I enjoyed Gusbourne very much indeed. The visit was very informative and well paced. There was an excellent selection of wines to taste and a delicious lunch - the quantity was just right and not overwhelming. Everyone was very friendly.

As I said I enjoyed the visit very much and thought it was excellent value in itself. BUT it is a long way from public transport and the cost of the taxi alone (if you are travelling by yourself) was more than the visit. I think Travelzoo or Gusbourne need to provide some group transport from and to the station or at least facilitate people sharing taxis. Some ladies did offer to let me join them on the way back but I had already booked my taxi. The transport cost will be a major factor in whether I go again. On a very much more minor point it would have been nice to have been offered coffee after lunch.
