I try and book a lunch at different venues every couple of months - so visit various locations that we would not normally visit . Rarely have we been disappointed. We were well looked after by attentive staff.

Food was good - the only downside was that we managed swat about 30 annoying fruit flies.

Welcoming staff, very pleasant environment easily accessed via public transport and a short walk. A limited lunch menu of 2 options per course but the food was very good and in a couple of cases, exceptional. I’d thoroughly recommend the mushroom tart with poached egg and hollandaise with its very crisp pastry, perfectly cooked egg whose yolk oozed to add to the creamy hollandaise. My plaice was moist and flaky in a bed of tasty vegetables with a mildly spiced green curry sauce. The strawberry Eton Mess combined light and crisp shards of meringue with succulent fruit and an amazing jus. My wife’s pie was crammed full of succulent tasty meat and a good selection of vegetables - it was no work of art but everything a pie should be!
