About the day
The Betfred Derby Festival features two of five British Classics. These are some of the most important and oldest races in British flat racing. They're considered the ultimate test of a generation of horses.
Ladies Day is a Derby staple where you can dress to impress and soak up the atmosphere. See The Betfred Oaks, which is one of the Classics. This is a Group 1 flat race that's run over one and a half miles.
Derby Day is the most prestigious of the Classics. It's one of the most exciting days of flat racing in the season. First raced in 1780, it centres around The Betfred Derby, a one mile, four furlong flat race.
This year also sees some exciting new additions to the programme. For the first time, the Coolmore Coronation Cup will run back-to-back with the Betfred Dash and Betfred Derby on Saturday. Also, the Grandstand Enclosure has a new undercover area in the Grandstand Enclosure, free car parking for all, and children 17 and under can attend completely free.
There will also be evening entertainment with DJ acts to be announced soon.
