Itinerary
Spend a night at a hotel in the centre of Munich first, then transfer to Passau, on the Austrian border. You'll follow the pace of the river and see how landscapes change gradually mile by mile. Highlights include:

  • The Wachau Valley... spend a day sailing the valley, starting at the ruins of Dürnstein Castle and finishing up at the City of Music, Vienna.
  • Vienna... the ship sails right into the heart of the city, so you can step out and start exploring. You could visit the lavish summer palaces or see The Kiss at Belvedere Palace.
  • Budapest... arrive in style as you sail past the iconic Parliament Building. Admire the views of the city from fairytale Fisherman's Bastion, or soak in geothermal springs at its historic bathhouses.
  • Esztergom... head north to Hungary's Medieval capital, Esztergom. It is on the Slovakian border and is home to the country's largest church.
  • Bratislava... stop in the pretty Slovak capital for a day. It's easy to explore on foot. Wander the cobbled streets, and take plenty of breaks to enjoy the cosy cafes.
  • Melk... this Austrian town is dominated by Melk Abbey, which perches on a hill atop the town. Benedictine monks have been living and working there since 1089.

Finish your cruise in Linz, and transfer back to Vienna Airport for your flight home.
