Itinerary
Once you've flown into Kangerlussuaq from Copenhagen, you'll be transferred to the ship. Your 7-night cruise aboard Ocean Albatros calls at:
- Sisimiut... go on a hike, or take a walking tour of Greenland's second-largest city. Taste local delicacies, learn about local traditions, and meet sled dogs still in training.
- Qeqertarsuaq... you can visit the local museum, brimming with history and tradition. In the afternoon, join a Zodiac cruise to Kuannit. This section of coastline is comprised of basalt rock formations.
- Uummannaq... learn about local culture, or join the expedition team on a hike to Santa's House. According to local legend, this is where Santa resides in summer.
- Eqip Sermia Glacier... one of the largest active glaciers in Disko Bay. Join a Zodiac cruise amid the icebergs, looking out for calving from the glacier.
- Ilulissat... home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ilulissat Icefjord. Go on a guided walk through to the town, or to the Icefjord itself.
- Itilleq... learn about life in a rural Greenlandic community. This picturesque village is nestled among the mountains and preserves a rich Inuit heritage.
You'll dock again in Kangerlussuaq to be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Copenhagen.
Ship details
Ocean Albatros is part of the Polar Latitudes Expeditions fleet. The small ship offers 94 staterooms, each with an ocean view. Full capacity is 175 passengers. Polar Latitudes Expeditions is known for its immersive Polar expedition tours to the Arctic and Antarctica. They focus on exploration and discovery of the world's most remote destinations, wildlife, and cultures.
Onboard you'll find the main dining room, as well as a bistro restaurant serving a’ la carte pizzas and burgers. There is also an alfresco dining option serving BBQ food on deck. Drinks are complimentary during mealtimes.
Visit the panoramic lounge and outer decks for great views of the surroundings. The ship offers a bar, lecture lounge, panoramic sauna, and a spa (supplements may apply). There's an infinity pool and two heated hot tubs at the back of the boat. You can take a dip and enjoy the ocean views.
