Tour itinerary
- Four nights in Beijing... learn about China's imperial history in the Forbidden City, enjoy a Peking duck lunch, then tour the Temple of Heaven. The next day, explore the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, take a cable car ride with mountain views, then tour the Summer Palace.
- Two nights in Xi'an... this was once the eastern end of the Silk Road. Visit the famous Terracotta Army, explore Xi'an's ancient City Wall, then enjoy a Tang Dynasty-inspired dinner show. The next day, sit down to a dumpling lunch.
- Two nights in Chengdu... see pandas in their natural surroundings at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. After lunch, tour the lantern-lined Jinli Street, famous for its Qing Dynasty architecture.
- Two nights in Guilin... this is the heart of China's karst country. It looks a little like Halong Bay, except the limestone peaks are even taller and more densely packed. Cruise the Li River, explore Yangshuo, and have dinner at a restaurant by the Yulong River.
Cruise itinerary
You'll spend a night in a Hong Kong before the cruise, then get an extra night in port on Azamara Pursuit. The ship carries roughly 700 passengers, and is famous for its dedication to destination immersion. Highlights include:
- Keelung, Taiwan... trains run to Taipei every 20 minutes. This is a safe and easy city to explore on foot. Check out the beautiful Qing Dynasty architecture, partake in teahouse culture, and try street food on every corner.
- Miyako Island, Okinawa... this is Okinawa's fourth-largest island. The area is famous as one of the world's Blue Zones—regions where residents regularly live to be over 100. Relax on lovely beaches and enjoy the slow pace of island life.
- Naha, Okinawa... visit Shuri, one of the finest gusuku, or Okinawan castles, in the world. Immerse yourself in the town and discover why Okinawan culture is so different from that of mainland Japan.
- Kochi, Japan... we recommend visiting Chikurin-ji Temple, a quiet temple on Mount Godaisan. It is a stop on the Shikoku pilgrimage, a sacred route connecting 88 Buddhist temples.
- Kobe, Japan... this is a dynamic port set against a mountain backdrop. The top thing to see is the 19th-century Ijinkan houses, where traders lived in the 1800s. 20 are open to the public.
