Itinerary
Fly into Calgary airport and check in for an overnight stay, to ensure you're rested for the adventure ahead. Travel to picture-perfect Banff, a resort town within a national park. Banff is home to some of North America's finest outdoor activities and the electric-blue Lake Louise. Spend two night here before boarding Rocky Mountaineer for a two-day rail journey. This train is specially designed to give guests the best views of the Canadian wilderness. Finish in Vancouver—you'll board Emerald Princess from here and call at:
- Juneau... the state capital of Alaska has hiking trails that start just 10 minutes from the city centre.
- Skagway... explore its historic saloons in this gold-rush frontier town, now one of Alaska's largest settlements.
- Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier... cruise along the 30-mile-long fjord and end up with front-row seats at Dawes Glacier. Endicott offers a perfect snapshot of the state's waterfalls, valleys, and granite cliffs. Dawes Glacier is famous for its daily displays of ice calving, creating some of the region's biggest bergs.
- Ketchikan... close to the southern tip of Alaska, and the gateway to Misty Fiords National Monument. The area has a rich Haida and Tlingit heritage. "There is no better place in the US to see totem poles in all their craning, colorful glory", says (Lonely Planet).
You'll call again in Vancouver and board your flight home from here.
Ship details
Emerald Princess carries just over 3000 passengers at full capacity. It's a great ship for cruising in warm weather. There are four pools, including one that's adult-only. All pools are surrounded by blue and white loungers. The Calypso deck is where all the fun happens. If you'd prefer to relax, we recommend the peaceful Terrace pool on Deck 14.
There are nightly Broadway-style shows, with a rota that covers dancing, musicals, and magic. During the day, you can join dance classes, game shows, and sports competitions. By night, enjoy quiet drinks, karaoke, and dancing around the ship. One of the most popular spots is the glamorous Skywalkers' Nightclub, which has floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean. You can also catch Movies Under The Stars above the main pool—staff even hand out popcorn and blankets.
